That custom Technics is freaking gorgeous. The arm I’d want would be that much or more though.

Here it is. The plinth is made of baltic birch and covered in rosewood veneer, but I routed out internal sections and filled them with a mix of lead shot and epoxy to add mass. The entire deck weighs around 60 lbs... footsteps are definitely not an issue!

That’s a beauty. And my wife thought the same thing.

Do it, Joe! DO IT!!! 😂

Just ordered an AT Mg10 headshell to try out. I've only the stock technics so its a fairly low cost experiment. Any other recommendations? Is lower weight better?
I’ve seen those. I hope your alignment works out. You’d need a cartridge that had thru holes that uses nuts and bolts. The screws go up from the bottom and screw into one of 4 threaded pairs of holes on the underside of the headshell.

Unless you get really lucky, I can’t see how one can get precise alignment with this headshell. My fingers are crossed for you.

I would have thought an SME V before they stopped selling them individually. That’s more a set of relatistic priced things that I could see me at some point affording.

He says realistic with a straight face considering it’s still about a €5k outlay 😂😂😂😂😂

I'll be putting an AT cart on it so hoping it matches. Weirdly the alignment and overhang on the geodisk doesn't match the Technics gauge. I'm guessing it uses a different measurement system but it means that lately I've been running the cart further forward than the system specific recommendation.

Its cost £30 so not a total blow out if it doesnt work but I'm keen to know what other options there are that work for the table. I was hell bent on the yamamoto but 100 quid to try something out is a no go at the minute

The Geo Disc won’t match the Technics alignment jig. Technics aligns to Stevenson which gives the lowest distortion at the innermost grooves. The Geo Disc aligns to Baerwald for lower average distortion across the entire playing surface.

Cool! When the at headshell comes I'm going to sling the mp200 on the Technics stock shell. When I compared them a while back I thought the at was head and shoulders above the mp200 but it'll be interesting to see whether I feel the same way.
