just finished listening. very good album but holy schmoly does every song on this album have to have a section/part/riff that's far too reminiscent of a section/part/riff from an older TOOL song?

after the one listen I think 7empest is my current favorite track

Yes....to everything. It's good. It's also derivative....and the tracks are waaaayyyyyy to long.

I get that long songs are a staple in Prog, but it's a bit much when all but 1 track is over 10 minutes. (not counting those digital only tracks)


All that being said, I've listened to it about 10 times this week and I'm gonna get a Spotify stream going while I wait for UPS to deliver the CD.

I’m anxiously awaiting a Tool/Phish collaboration. 5 tracks, 2.5 hours long. Deluxe package comes with a bottle of Caduceus and a limited edition pint of Phish Food infused with CBD.

Seriously though, this album is great if only a tad bit familiar sounding. Loving it on listen 1.

Listened a few times, easy to get lost in. I find that I haven't paid much, if any, attention to the lyrics yet. All my focus is on the drumming/guitar work.

The long tracks have me a little worried about vinyl sequencing (because that's the most important thing to consider when listening to a new album ).

I guess if using the CD tracklist, the best you could do is probably:

• Side 1: tracks 1-2 22:13
• Side 2: track 3 12:44
• Side 3: tracks 4-5 23:42
• Side 4: tracks 6-7 20:31

Wonder if they just skip vinyl again though - anyone hear anything promising?

Discogs will have to split up the subs to accommodate each one.

Pretty sure an official announcement said later in the year - I don't care how they decide to split the tracks...as long as it isn't a Black Friday RSD release.

How much variation? Subtle or immediately recognisable? Are the variations in the print or the digital video piece?

First listen was a success. Those 80 minutes go by fast. So fast that I think the ambient "interlude" tracks are more of a distraction, so I'm glad those aren't on the physical releases.
