Can't speak to this tour yet, but I imagine it'll be much of the same as their previous three or four tours (and those videos above seem to confirm)...Question for anyone that made it to this tour so far - was the show just what it look like? The band in front of huge video screens playing clips from their videos + a few lasers?

Adam left, Justin and Danny right, Maynard (likely in a weirdo random costume) on a platform left-center, staying back in the shadows most of the show. Giant screens behind them showing animated Alex Grey art and then clips from the music videos when those songs are played. The seven point star thing hanging there. Pretty cool usage of lighting and lasers at various times.
Simple show production compared to many performers these days, but it works for them and it's never not been a fantastic experience in the five times I've seen them.
This statement feels like an understatement for what that solo actually is, lol.a little drum/drum machine solo (choc. chip trip.)
BANG THAT GONG!!!This statement feels like an understatement for what that solo actually is, lol.
I saw them live a couple weeks ago and it blew my mind. I wasn't really thinking about whether the visuals were impressive or not, but I did think the lasers and lights were well done. The music was so incredible and well-performed that I was spellbound. I would definitely put it in my top 5 live shows. All in the name of profits I guess. I still love Tool, but honestly KISS has been the best stadium shows I've seen in 2019. Fire. Constantly evolving stage. Moving to a second stage in a manor that actually presents a small amount of danger. It blows my mind how they make every tour somehow even bigger than the last.
That's what I wanted from so many other bands, especially Metallica. But LED screens are the default for bands unfortunately. At least pop shows are doing something right, lol.
Sorry for the derail. Back to Tool. Anyone have any other speculations or tips on vinyl pressings? I gave into fomo and ordered the book version of the CD. Still hoping vinyl gets announced before Xmas.
I saw them last week in New Jersey and it was the first time I hd seen them since 1995 in San Bernardino, Ca. Obviously a different show but goddamn - it was incredible. Everything I had come to expect from the youtube videos of their shows over the years. Simply amazing and I got to go with my two sons 22 and 16 - both huge fans as well. Only one minor quibble (SO minor) is that the concert poster from Alex Grey of all people (I hadn't seen any others from him this tour but all the artists work on the posters has been beautiful) was hand numbered but not signed. I don't think I have ever bought a numbered but unsigned poster.
In another forum there has been a guy successfully collecting each poster. I can't imagine how much money he has into already.
tools supposed to be a anti-establishment band, for the common man and thinking people. ive seen them twice.
too bad their prices and availability of vinyl doesnt reflect that.
maynard has always been about the cash money
No no. My house doesn’t have enough wall space for all those posters even if they were free. Factor in the money... I’d be getting new audio gear instead.I'll never understand people buying up posters for shows that they weren't at. I mean, I guess it makes slightly more sense for Tool since they have a pretty ravenous fan base, but still, that's excessive ha
(and sorry if you were secretly talking about yourself)
Is eBay the only spot to scoop those unofficial Fear Inoculum LP? Because damn, they’re already around $80-90+
Guess that’s what I get for waiting on an official release
Yeah, it’s hard to justify $80-90 on a bootleg. Oh well, maybe in 13 more years we will get an official releaseMost recent boots I’ve found, hip hop/rock/metal, range in the $60-$90 range if it’s a double LP. No idea if this is because of where they are having to get them pressed or what. Just makes them even more not worth it imo.
