Tool

I read this previously and found it annoying.
The author clearly puts their own sense of nostalgia above progress, personal growth, bands making a living, and new fans discovering great music.
It’s like he thinks this new album might have been Tool transforming into Sugar Ray. I don’t expect to go to a Tool show surrounded by tweens there to belt out a single from the radio just because they made a new album.

I try not to hate on things, but in my mind that article was weak, and discourages the growth of artists and music.
... so, um, it wasn’t supposed to be humor? Cause, like, I was laughing the whole way through it. Either some of you guys got shorted in the sense of humor department or I am borderline aspergers.

I just spent $50 on a CD and I don't even have a CD player hooked up right now. Because Tool.

Seriously, I've forgotten how much I dig this band. New song is solid, but looking forward to really getting deep inside Fear Inoculum and unlocking it's secrets.

I'll probably get the LP, too, but digital formats are the best formats for experiencing a Tool album.

I listened to the new single and was not really that impressed. The tone is almost identical to their past work, and all the guitar/bass/drum arrangements seem heavily recycled. Seems like they've been there and done all that. You'd think with the time between releases, their style/approach may have changed a bit more. We'll see when the whole album drops.

Overall, it isn't a terrible song, but it really isn't anything spectacular. The vocals are probably the worst part of the track for me.

Part of me thinks this is a marketing strategy by Tool. 13 year absence. They know fans would buy any initially available physical media, so why not release a souped up CD first with gimmicks, even though it's a dead medium. Then release the vinyl later, knowing damn well that people are gonna double dip.

Also, this is frighteningly real 😂😂😂

4 different people sent this to me yesterday because they knew my excitement levels, haha. Also, did you see some of the past links for other vendors. Bullmoose has been the cheapest so far at $37. Apparently Amazon might have the price come down when it ships.

To be fair, I was going to double dip either way. I already have all the CDs, so I wasn't going to pass on this one either.

Yeah, but then there are people like me, pedestrian radio Tool fans at best (Schism, Sober, Vicarious), that are seriously thinking about buying the CD just to be part of the hype/nostalgia. I'd never consider buying the CD if it was immediately up against a vinyl record pre-order.

That's fair enough. Especially since they are on streaming now. Especially given the number of people that don't have a CD player. I think I will always have one in my system, but I know not everyone does that.

Do you have a strict CD player or something like a gaming system that plays CDs? I have the latter, but rarely use it to play my CD collection.
