Thank you @Selaws , @Mr Moore , and @MikeH! This is all amazing stuff. To be honest my biggest interest in visiting UK shops is music from the 90s that wasn't pressed in the US because CD's so dominated at the time, but I love virtually everything and expect to find quite a lot of fun stuff in London that the picked over shops in the NYC/NJ area won't have.

Alas, I had to fly back to NY Thursday evening and barely made it out of the Blackfriars area where I was staying (stupid job, ruining my plans). But I will absolutely pocket this for my trip over, hopefully soonish!
If you’re in the NYC/NJ area hit up Station 1 if you haven’t. Killer shop, great prices and they pull lots of amazing used stuff across all genres.

The problem that I find with used records here in the UK is that people seem to look at the median Discogs value and just slap that figure on it even if it's in poor condition. When actually using Discogs I almost always find that the UK listings are above the median, despite condition. Maybe its just for the sort of jazz that im looking for, but certainly seems the case.
Think they’ve taken the idea from the charity shops, where the prices are insane.

I LOVE Station 1! Such a great shop. Not big but always with interesting items at reasonable prices. Great call!
It’s so good. Really great mix of genres and awesome used section. I jealously follow their instagram but it’s a little too far for me to go there at the drop of a hat.

For your next trip, my favourite place for 90s indie stuff is the Greenwich Music & Video Exchange (small chain of shops - there's one in Notting Hill that is pretty good as well) on Church Street. It's a small shop but has some great stuff.

Hey @hamicle, how did the recording go?
Hi! It went well, thanks for asking. Was a really good experience. We did turn it round very quickly - 11 songs (ten for the album, one alternate take) recorded and mixed in five days, with the bulk of one of those days taken up with guest overdubs.

It's now mastered, the artwork's done and release details being sorted - distribution has been arranged and there should be news on pre-orders pretty soon. We'll be looking to play live in 2023 but unfortunately not likely to make it down under!

Glad to hear it went well. What was working with Steve like?

Calling @Selaws and @Mr Moore - check out the website of Glasgow HiFi store Loud & Clear. They are doing 15% off Blue Note and Tone Poet. Link to a Google Doc with the list on their Facebook page if you can’t see it.
They are top guys - I got my Spendor A7’s from them. I saw their insta post, it’s on pre Nov’22 releases - worth checking for sure!

Yeah, there's quite a few in a short walking distance in Soho. Sister Ray and Reckless cover most styles, both new and used. Sounds of the Universe specialises a bit more in Soul, Funk, Jazz, both new and used. Phonica is more of an EDM specialist, mainly new if I remember rightly and IF Music is a quirky one that you have to buzz for entry to and also specialises more towards the jazzy end of thing, pricey but has lots of rare pieces. I haven't been but I think there's still a Third Man shop there now also.
Camden has a few rock/punk specialists I think but not really my scene so I couldn't vouch for them.
If you're more in the City/Shoreditch area, Rough Trade East is pretty varied and I think there are a few other little ones towards Hackney.
I stumbled on this by pure chance last week on Discogs that lists loads I wasn't even aware of too and splits them up by parts of the city you're in. Good luck and have fun in the best city in the world.
FYI, I made it back this week and with a couple extra hours in the afternoon hit up Sister Ray, Reckless and Sounds of the Universe. Super impressive. Didn't find exactly what I was looking for but spotted a couple of (unaffordable) gems that i hadn't seen in the states in a while. I almost walked out of Sounds of the Universe with a couple records but had the sense to check the exchange rate first and quietly slipped them back in the stacks for next time...

But thanks for recommendations! Will be back! And Yoyo next time I hope!
