Upcoming/Recent Shows

Working a few stages for a smooth jazz festival in Delaware this weekend. Didn't exactly realize there was a huge market for that. In Delaware. But I was wrong. From what I've heard so far with sound checks, these are some damn fantastic musicians, just not playing the genre for me.
Still not my favorite genre by a long shot, but some of these bands are tight and funky. Currently waiting on Brian Culbertson's band to wrap up so we can tear it all down again and set up for tomorrow's closing set!

As I'm sure many of you know, Dennis DeYoung was the original lead singer, principal songwriter and visionary of classic rock legends Styx. Styx still tours, but their poor soundalike and ignorance of DeYoung's importance left me wanting to see the lead man himself.

And here we are! Hooooly shit, I've never seen a 72 year old man jumping and prancing around a stage like this before! Incredible singing, awesome crowd interaction, and "bust your motherfucking gut laughing" jokes between songs. His band members were incredible! Stunning keyboard/synthesizer work, amazing guitar shredding, and even lovely backing vocals from Dennis' wife, Suzanne!

Setlist wise, we were treated to hearing Styx's 1977 hit album The Grand Illusion in its entirety, followed by other great Styx hits! And as a special treat, just for this show, he also performed "Desert Moon", one of his solo hits of the 80s! This was Dennis DeYoung's first public solo show in DC, according to the man himself!

Absolutely stunning show! If you want the REAL Styx experience, go see Dennis DeYoung! More pics are on my Instagram (@sjettfolk) as always!

Dave has made one of my favourite (possibly *the* favourite) album of this year with Psychodrama. And now he's given me one of my best concerts of 2019 too. Possibly the first time I've felt so old at a concert - it felt like everyone was 20, if not 25, years younger than me - and my ability to rap fast out loud isn't what it used to be 😂 but it was great fun.

Black Pumas w Neal Francis at the Independent, San Francisco

One of my favorite shows ever, where the following happened:

- I met Eric Burton pre-show and had a quick chat and took a pic
- Neal Francis was amazing
- Black Pumas were amazing
- Eric handed me the setlist as they were walking offstage before the encore
- I was pulled up on stage along with 5-6 female fans to dance during the encore (hopefully no video of this exists!)
- I met Neal after the show and got a 7" signed w a cool inscription
- Eric and Adrian signed my setlist

I mean, those are my specific highlights and I'm not even getting in to how energetic and awesome the band sounded. I can't wait to see them again!

Words can not describe but @tvham hit the nail on the head. I was absolutely blown away by this show and was lucky enough to be front row. I got to shout the lyrics to the song into the mic and bump Eric’s fist mid concert. I’m giddy right now. One of my favorite shows ever and shouts out to the people who tracked me down after the show to give me the set list they thought I deserved lol. This is my first set list ever, guess it starts a new collection.
