I wish this were the year, but not with the 19 month old....MerleFest, anyone?
it's a blast if you've never been...
MerleFest
MerleFest, considered one of the premier music festivals in the country, is a celebration of “traditional plus” music.merlefest.org
Brothers Of A Feather is just Chris and Rich. And it's good. This is what the last two years should've been instead of all the hired hands being passed off as The Black Crowes.
I was just watching a Marc Ford interview last night that basically said as soon as Rich was back in with Chris everyone in Magpie was just left out in the cold.
if you haven't already, you really need to get Steve Gorman's book 'Hard To Handle: The Life And Death Of The Black Crowes'. The audiobook is primo with Steve reading every word. Even if you don't give a rat's ass about The Crowes, it's a great read. So many things make so much sense after hearing Steve recount the stories...

Although, I'd dig seeing Magpie Salute do Southern Harmony...
I very much enjoyed Magpie which was basically the Crowes without Chris. No Thank You Sir.
Without Rich AND Chris - its just a second rate crowes cover band.

Yeah. Back when there was the acrimony/spilt - I tried to like them.
Just could not get there.
I had way more respect for Chris trying to do the modern Grateful Dead/New Riders of the Purple Sage thing more than Rich trying to keep the Crowes money train flowing.
Chris went public during the Magpie period and pretty much ridiculed Rich in every interview for being in a Black Crowes cover band. Not too long after all that, he trots out As the Crow Flies, his own Black Crowes cover band. And this illustrates those petty, hypocritical Robinson qualities that just make them completely maddening at times.
