Vinyl Me Please Anthology

I also don't see Storf or anyone else there curating a classical set, so I guess they'd have to go to Decca or DG or something and ask them to curate one for them.
They frankly did not do much curation on the bn anthology. They just picked between two sets of 6 records that Don Was curated for them. Probably had they chosen the other 6 it would have been receivrd just as well.

I know, I've made the same point in here. I guess if one of those labels was willing, they might do the same. Still don't think it would sell well, especially at this price.

I’m sure the quality isn’t superb at £10. It will be interesting to see if a grey label release takes any greater care with labels, cover, etc.

The quality won’t be the best, but they seem to get a good write up on the Steve Hoffman forum. Apparently it’s the same company as Resonance records, but definitely not as premium.

I have several Elemental releases (blues and jazz) and have been impressed by them all tbh. I wouldn't hesitate getting these, at this price especially.

EDIT: There's this one too, Big John Patton - Oh Baby!, for anyone interested.

I see a wider release for this on amazon. Not sure the pressing details or whatever but, you know...

Thanks for sharing that. I think I'll pick it up!

Any opinion on Big John Patton? Worth a listen?

Same here. I have a few of their Blues and Brazilian releases plus the Dexter Gordon Espace Cardin '77 and all are nice records.

Cheers team, I put the order in for these 2. Worth a punt at £11 each.

To be somewhat fair, BN gave them the list of 12 because those were 12 they had no plans on reissuing for TP or for BN80. And the list of all 12 got posted and I liked the 6 they chose best. I know we shouldn't be heaping praise on VMP for something where they would have picked some names out of a hat, but I have liked all their Blue Note curation choices so far.

From what I see, they are mastered from either CD or digital. Seems like they are comparable to the 75th anniversary series...very hit or miss.

I just cracked open the Akinmusire album and the label on side two doesn't look good. Really surprised given that this is an RTI product.View attachment 8583
I received a replacement (sealed) Akinmusire album today and the label has bubbling issues in the exact same place on the exact same label.

Got a (sealed) replacement record today, and it has the same issue, just a bit less pronounced. Hoping they will be willing to open a record, make sure it has no issue, and send a clean replacement. That should be the advantage of shipping it from the home office in Denver. I get that it's tough to ask a third-party shipper to inspect a replacement record before shipping it, but if someone in Denver has to pack and ship this, they should be able and willing to open it first and make sure it's good to go. Fingers are crossed. Expectations are low.
