Linn Krystal moving coil cart. It’s a nude diamond. It is quite picky when it comes to surface noise. What cart do you use? I have the 2M Black, any chance you've got something with a Shibata diamond as well?

Alright yes so THAT'S likely why we're hearing the same issues on the same discs. Because likely most people are not running carts nearly as detailed as ours. For better or worse.... It's a bit disconcerting though because it likely means this is more widespread of an issue if we've both pinpointed the exact same issues with the same discs.Linn Krystal moving coil cart. You are not insane mate and neither am I. We know what we hear on these godforsaken records! Yeah, I’m just waiting for more people to get their sets and see if the problems are larger than they seem at the moment.Alright yes so THAT'S likely why we're hearing the same issues on the same discs. YOU SEE THIS GUYS!? I'M NOT CRAZY! THERE'S SOMEONE ELSE HERE NOW THAT HAS THE SAME ISSUES AS ME!
@greeny400 you can't leave, I need you here to confirm I'm not insane.
Confirmed, @greeny400 is a sock account for @Mathew Chupacabra J.D.Alright yes so THAT'S likely why we're hearing the same issues on the same discs. I will gladly take a Without a Net...just throwing that out there...for compensation of coursePIF thread is gonna be loaded with Dead records. Lol
Haven't watched this yet, but Dillon at Noble Records has a set...
I do find the heavier the cardboard stock, the harder it is to get the inner sleeves in flat and this set is no different. It can be done though and this shows how rushed QRP must have been to just shove them in with no real care.Pulled out at least 2 where the inners hadn't covered the vinyl. So similar level of just general lack of care as has been reported on here.
WAN and the box itself would be an amazing piece and I would like to preemptively claim them from anyone looking to rehome their copies.PIF thread is gonna be loaded with Dead records. Lol
Nothing to do with Dead box issues, but I have been running with Shibatas for over 15 years - from some NOS Nagaokas, Jico SAS and the rather esoteric Garrott Brothers. My experience is that the Shibata is quite forgiving of surface noise yet very detailed. The Garrott in particular has those qualties but is still mellow. Not all Shibatas are equal, though, depending on who supplied the diamond.Alright yes so THAT'S likely why we're hearing the same issues on the same discs. That's interesting to know, my 2M Black however is RENOWN for being horridly unforgiving with surface noise..I will be switching to a different cart once this one runs it's course.Nothing to do with Dead box issues, but I have been running with Shibatas for over 15 years - from some NOS Nagaokas, Jico SAS and the rather esoteric Garrott Brothers. Ouch this comment
I don't know much about Dillan, although I have followed him for years, BUT it's worth noting that he was sent this for free.Pulled out at least 2 where the inners hadn't covered the vinyl. So similar level of just general lack of care as has been reported on here.
It was very much a style over substance review. I might get Oscar to make one where he just barks at the box for 20 minutes when mine arrives.I don't know much about Dillan, although I have followed him for years, BUT it's worth noting that he was sent this for free.
Awwww that’s so cute! Does your dog get really happy and excited when he sees you get a vinyl delivery package in?It was very much a style over substance review. I might get Oscar to make one where he just barks at the box for 20 minutes when mine arrives.
Nope. Hes far too busy carrying on with his war with the posties to look at what they're actually deliveringAwwww that’s so cute! Does your dog get really happy and excited when he sees you get a vinyl delivery package in?
I skimmed the review but I got the overall vibe that the guy didn't think the box was worth it based on MSRP. If I got a $450 box set for free, I probably wouldn't give a wholly negative review. I don't think this guy's review was too stellar either though. The vibe I got from skimming was he thought it was cool and packaging was great but it isn't a must-have. In the US, at least, you can do better if you don't need those EXACT titles. It was very much a style over substance review. I also think a majority of people who bought this either have crosleys/ audio technica 60/or a starter setup who can’t really determine sound quality issues as well.I skimmed the review but I got the overall vibe that the guy didn't think the box was worth it based on MSRP. I haven't followed their social media too much since its extremely cringy to me, but it would be surprising if a lot of people with a $100 TT are dropping $450 on grateful dead records. But then again....in 2020....maybe nothing surprises me anymore...I also think a majority of people who bought this either have crosleys/ audio technica 60/or a starter setup who can’t really determine sound quality issues as well.
I think vmp has marketed to these buyers and it reflects in a majority of Instagram story postings etc they share
