So I would rule out Miles in pen. I doubt it's Coltrane either even though he that Davis/Coltrane ROTM probably wouldn't rule out a future Coltrane ROTM.

I remember noting that and in a separate conversation them saying Coltrane wouldn't be excluded from Classics.
 
Did storf really say that the March album from 1982 will be the "biggest classics release yet"? If so that makes it a real head-scratcher as far as great albums go. I feel like doing Thriller, which doesn't really fit with most other classics pics, is about as likely as doing the Bill Cosby album from that year, right? So what is it going to be? Marvin Gaye? Seems like a weird choice given any pick of his albums.

Damn yeah if it’s Midnight Love that would be cool but you can get fantastic sounding OG pressings for under $10

I could find some pretty good fits, like Hound Dog Taylor or something, but trying to get it to match "biggest classics ever" is the real head scratcher. I think Gap Band is, or at least was, a lot more popular, but I'd be surprised by saying it's bigger than many classics choices.

I agree. The drop is pretty big after MJ and Marvin in 1982 (as far as soul/funk goes). Al Green would be hard to top with any 1982 jazz and blues unless I'm missing something.

EDIT: and Prince's "1999", but that's also been reissued properly.
 
George Clinton is most likely it, the biggest classics ever statement is just weird. 1982 wasn’t really a classic year for blues, jazz and soul. (I’m probably forgetting many great albums from 1982).

I would have said Hugh Massakela Hope, from 1982, but biggest classic yet has me stumped

I know it just received a huge Boxset repress but the estate is cashing in every chance they get. What about Prince - 1999 for 1982? That would be huge (If not hugely necessary).
