Vinyl Me Please Classics

It's Jammed Together.

10 letters for Albert King
Track 4 has 21 letters in it.
It’s Howlin’ Wolf - The Real Folk Blues.

To confirm, we think Classics is Howlin' Wolf?

There are currently 2 albums that fit this line of thought (if we're reading it correctly). I think people were considering ruling out Albert King because it's Stax and we thought Storf had said no more Stax for a bit? But I don't really know.

jammed together would be a keeper for sure.

edit: I think this is correct. The RHH clue of 6;6 (kind of) fits Pusha T (6)- My Name is My Name. The 6th track is “40 Acres”....which I guess you could argue the inclusion of numbers makes it hard to count the actual amount of characters...idk.

Yeah I've got the 2018 mastered from the tapes but it's stereo and it's got that weird fake stereo sound to it. It sounds good but I don't like the imaging at all.
Really? It's stereo? Were they rechanneled copy tapes? I don't believe the '86 one is. I've not heard any complaints about it.

Yeah, they did that with a bunch of his releases. I'm not sure how they created the stereo but it doesn't sound natural to me even though the mastering and pressings on my two are actually decent, I wish they'd kept it mono.

The original masters definitely aren't stereo, so if they are claiming they're from original masters, something is fishy there.

Keep an eye out for the '86 reissue of Moanin' in the Moonlight. AAA cut by Steve Hoffman.
Can confirm that the 86 version of Moanin is about as good as it will get. Same goes for a lot of those late 80’s reissues from Chess. I know SH did a few of them. I have Moanin, Howlin Wolf (Rocking Chair) and Muddy Waters at Newport all of which sound great.

Is it plausible that some of the tracks from Rockin Chair are stereo?

I believe it says original tapes, either way it could be FROM the original tapes, just messed with. Either way they're the best reviewed of the newer pressings but AAA monos would definitely be nicer. But again, I think most of the older Wolf stuff isn't exactly audiophile no matter how you slice it.

I remember hearing the rocking chair one isn't as recommended from that series because it has rechanneled stereo but I might be fuzzy on that. I would love a great version of that one.

Yeah no that sounds right, pretty sure that's what mine sounds like too.

Can confirm confirm. I've got those 3 as well as Folk Singer from that 80s series, and they all sound wonderful.

All the Chess tapes were burned in the Universal Fire. So if it’s Howlin Wolf then there was a safety or duplicate tape they used. I’m skeptic it’s Chess.
