Vinyl Me Please Classics

I have no idea about the master tape situation with it or why it has never been reissued , but Sabu’s Palo Congo would certainly be a homerun pick for the 1957 jazz album
Yeah I mentioned that one a couple days ago. It’s an amazing album if you love percussion. El Cumbanchero is worth the price of the album alone.

Speaking of Tone Poet, just got my Henderson Vol. 1. This is not a good press, I've got noise including a really loud snap on song 2 side A that's an issue echoed by several other Cogs posters... Disappointing.
I will say though that others on here have gotten it and it apparently sounds good. So it's not all bad... But there are definitely some duff copies out there.

I’ve got a copy that’s on the way too me! I’ve read your post and will be keeping this in mind and will let you know how my copy sounds! ☺️

I hope your replacement copy doesn’t have the same issues your first copy got! 🤞

1968 is probably The Jazz Composers Orchestra on JCOA, a label co-founded by Carla Bley and the album's primary artist Michael Mantler.

Mingus’ East Coasting sort of fits 1957. Such an underrated album of his. Very much hard bop though so not sure it would be that.
