I took my time on this but I finally picked up a copy during Target's Black Friday record sale. The mixing sounds different but I'm almost positive it's because something is messed up with my turntable and the left audio channel is coming in too quiet. I'll figure out how to fix it, eventually...
I'm not a fan of the front/back cover but the record itself looks nice and has a liner notes sheet (same Melissa Weber liner notes that made up the VMP release's booklet and was also reused in last year's RSD red vinyl edition).
The tracklist is TOTALLY different from the VMP and RSD releases. The VMP bonus 7" songs are included here, along with You Are My Sun Sign, which wasn't on either previous release (albeit this is the edited version here).
Additional thoughts:
-I like VMP's sequencing of the album more, where I feel it has a more natural progression of songs to make it sound more like a proper album.
-However, this new version including three extra songs on a single LP without losing much (if any) audio quality is a nice perk. Good to have You Are My Sun Sign out there.
-The RSD version has the best cover art design of the three releases. Plus the vinyl is red!
-VMP and RSD were pressed at Gz and this new version was done at umm... Alchemy? Do they actually press vinyl? Their name is etched in the deadwax.
-With the recent passing of Joe Jefferson, I'm pretty sure I am now the owner of the single largest collection of Nat Turner Rebellion releases on the planet: three singles, three 12-inches, a 1990s Japanese import CD compilation, and a promo of a Delfonics album that inexplicably has an NTR song on it, along with an original press packet and glossy publicity photo of the Delfonics.
tl;dr (from when I bought the RSD 2020 edition) :
In conclusion, both versions are great A++ will double-dip again
