Yeah, even when they did S/T in essentials in January 0f 2022, it felt unecessary since Rhino reissued all his stuff AAA right before. Whatever Prine they put out will be another rehash in a better jacket with a color variant. But still, it's kind of a crime to have a country track and NOT do Prine.

I would be more happy if we got something like Johnny Cash at San Quentin or Johnny Cash The Man Comes Around.

Yes I completely agree and one that can be acquired on vinyl relatively easily and cheaply while Whitley’s Don’t Close Your Eyes (which is just as great) currently only has 8 copies available on vinyl and the cheapest available copy in the US is listed for $145 plus shipping.

I hate this statistic. I found a copy of it and his other album on marketplace. The person was asking $120 for both. I drove an hour away to get them, and Don’t Close Your Eyes was pristine and the other was scratched. I had to walk away because they wouldn’t split them up.

Yeah, if they still don't want to do this, maybe Pistol Annies - Annie Up works? I think the solo vs. part of a group rationale is what they gave to include Miles and Coltrane multiple times in Classics.

But really, at some point they'll need to give up the "no repeats" rule if they want to keep releasing stuff people really want

That Keith Whitley is a necessary album for this track that is unfortunately under discussed. I really, really hope it is that album for May.
