I might be guilty of not reading back here - But interestingly just got a notification re: QOTSA reissues !
So the early release info was a bit of a smokescreen / FOMO effort.

Id probably do the same in your shoes - Although its very easy to forget that essentially the exact same product (just a colour variant) is costing significantly more when bought from VMP - especially if an overseas subscriber.yeah I was just on the universal store. Out in December. I’ll stick with the VMP one because I like the colour and because I’m stuck in for a couple more months but all the cynicism was spot on with the announcement it seems!

Hot take. I’d like it to come back so that we can rid ourselves of the VMP threads on here, I always thought we should only ever have given them one VMP thread even if it slowed growth/shed the people who only wanted VMP info...
Isn't every thread in the Vinyl Clubs forum free publicly for that club though?I don't disagree. Not that I'm a huge poster elsewhere on this place but these threads are free publicity for them and has kept the FOMO train rolling without any investment for them. At least on their own site you got staff interactions and they had to try to stoke the FOMO but here we're doing their work for them.
Anyhow on a less cynical note, I am glad to see the uDiscover price for the SFTD for us in the states is higher than the cost of the VMP sub. My local likes to take on a few extra bucks so I'd expect this to sell for $37-40, so I'll keep the Essentials I added on last month thanks to the FOMO train.

Yep I've returned on a monthly like 4 times this yearI'm on a monthly. If I cancel, can I come back later on a monthly?

I don't mind separate VMP threads because I want info on Essentials but don't want to sift through info on Classics and RHH to get it. There was a poll when this forum was established on how to handle it and the current status is what won. There was actually a lot more VMP threads and some were condensed.
Perhaps it's because I don't have as much time to surf around this forum as the old one but I definitely feel less FOMO personally. I made a decision to stick to tracks only unless I really want the exclusive (mainly due to pricing and constant delays). But honestly I don't get to read through every post anymore so I could be off in my observation.Of course! But the FOMO levels for VMP seem to be higher. Of course there are some genuinely great reissues or pressing that people feel good about and want others to get, but I see a lot of the same stuff that the old forum did, in that it encourages people to spend a lot of money on mediocre ones. The guess threads are fun, as are the discussions around the music, but they were obviously started at the older forum for the very reason of stoking FOMO to promote the VMP brand. The fact that these still roll on the same way with the same outcome just feels a little silly. Just my two cents.
At least I don't get shit on when I call them out on bad pressings here.
