Vinyl Me Please Essentials

HARD DISAGREE! Their QC is all over the fucking place!
Agree their QC is all over the place and when something is damaged it absolutely needs to be replaced. Their policy now is too strict and they expect people to cave in and accept a small credit. But I've seen people get new copies of records for a slight ding in the sleeve and then flip the "damaged" records over on reddit at above the price they paid. I personally think that's taking advantage of the policy they had.

@Ghost is 100% in the right asking for a replacement or full refund though.

Yeah maybe people on here, and more the old place, are more honest, but I’ve genuinely seen exponentially more seriously fucked records than abuses. Also I’d 100% reach out for minor sleeve defects but wouldn’t expect a new record, just a small credit as a gesture. If they were giving replacements for that it’s their stupidity, not people talking advantage!

To be fair did they EVER accept returns? I've only ever gotten replacements or full refunds.

Definitely just push back. I've had my fair share of VMP issues in the past year or so when I was a member and if you are respectful but push back and say that's not an acceptable solution to your issue, they will likely make it better. The only worry I'd have is that Sahara got oversold I think so not sure what the status is on replacement copies right now.
I threatened to send them back a busted up record on my dime if they didn’t fix my issue because ya know seam splits are just something that happens sometimes.

That's totally fair and I agree with you on all of that. I'd ask for some sort of store credit or coupon code if it's a minor sleeve defect. I used to do that when I'd get a damaged album from them and was always surprised that they would just send me a full replacement. But I feel like I see "seam split" VMP pressings on reddit all the time selling at $40 a piece for something you know somebody paid $23 for and got a replacement for.

That Sahara record is beyond fucked. I agree with whoever on here said it--the VMP CS script is: say there is nothing you can do outside of offering store credit or a coupon code and see if the customer agrees. If they keep pushing, then offer to send a replacement eventually. It took me over a month to get a replacement for a record in the Zamrock anthology that wasn't even in the box. I had to push back multiple times to say that I didn't want to swap the missing album for a ROTM. Ended up telling them either they could buy me the missing album on discogs (only used copy was $600+) or expect a chargeback if they didn't send me a replacement. Within 10 minutes I had a shipping notice for a replacement hah.

Followedt that in the anthology thread and that was really shady. You can not really sell a box set( especially at that premium price) and not either resend a missing record or refund the whole set.

I have a question for any of you guys that might have experience with CS. When they receive a replacement request from individual subscribers do they have account info on the screen to show how long you have been a member, amount of purchases, money spent etc?

The reason I ask is that if you've been a member for a few years but only put in a couple of requests then surely they should be more open to replacing and less suspicious? Im just curious how it works really.
IIRC a forum member once asked for a replacement and CS said something to the extent of "we’ve replaced ___ records for you already and you’re abusing our system." So yes, I think they can see your whole history, but I really don’t think they have a ‘dollars spent / replacements allowed’ ratio or w/e.

Imo, the newer CS are just trying to do their overlord’s bidding and pinch pennies, until they get insanely overwhelmed and learn to just copy and paste the "I’m so sorry! Receiving damaged vinyl is the worst! Blah blah"

I received two records yesterday. Both seriously warped. I'm beginning to tire of the process of reaching out to customer service (not just VMP) and waiting for a replacement. Right now I have 4 replacement albums headed my way. Guess the PIF thread will be happy. :)
Yeah, I just got one from Matador that is crazy warped. It a bit exhausting.

That was me. I sent picture proof for every claim. Elevated to CEO blasting their CS rep for his comment and got a semi apology from CS.

Stayed away for a few months, got dragged back in for something I really wanted. CS has been nothing but great to me since. I've had a lot fewer issues since I rejoined too. Its helped that I've stayed on a month to month and don't feel committed to them at all. I'm sure they can access history and likely your subscription status.

Blink 182 somehow reminds me of the guy who used to predict Astro Lounge by Smash Mouth to be rotm every month. Do that, VMP, before you do All the Small Things.

They are so damn bad at this.

I’ve mentioned this in the hip hop thread but I have not paid VMP a cent for like 5 months and they keep sending me the RHH record. I have no active membership but they keeping sending me shit!

Best damn record club!
That’s amazing. One time I got a severely warped record from them so they gave me store credit. When I logged on, I had $300.00 worth of store credit applied to my account.

I can only imagine they’ve lost thousands and thousands of dollars on stupid mistakes like that.
