Vinyl Me Please Essentials

I honestly think that as nice as it would be for everyone there is no way on earth that they've an exclusive of this. Absolutely no way. Fiona Apple and Spiritualized are big in their markets but Outkast is gargantuan. Looking at reviews my best is they use the MOV
I don't see why you would expect it to be anything other than a new pressing DMM at GZ like the vast majority of their RHH titles. I don't think there have been many cases in a while where the AOTM is the same plates as an existing pressing. Doesn't mean it'd be better though, of course.

I think its completely plausible they could get a definitive remaster of Stankonia on a limited/timed exclusivity deal, just like Demon Days. They really need to bring it to justify the price hike, these next 3 months are where they will go all out. I almost hope its not so I can save money and swap the color variant of an old mastering for whatever Classics has coming next month.
That's my thought exactly.

If Outkast, Badu and Billie Holliday is their idea of going all out I'd hate to see what staying at home looks like

I don't think it’s a joke because:

1. Nathan has a long history of being open about not giving a shit about what artists do so long as he enjoys the music; and
2. He’s not that clever.

Also @NathanRicaud stop with sloppy Joe, NOW! I don’t need weird, offensive pet names from you.

Sloppy Joe... jesus...🤭🤫

Listening to The Lemon of Pink by The Books, possibly for only the second time. Bit out there, isn't it (and I normally like things that are out there!).
That was one of two "free" records I got with my initial gift subscription a few years ago. Don't love the music but it does sound great!

(The other free record was Nils Frahm which ended up being probably my favourite and most played Essentials ever.)

I love The Books, Lemon of Pink is great though I still prefer Thought For Food it’s hard to categorize but I love it. That was actually the album that brought my attention to VMP in the first place.

Finally got my LAGWAFIS! I'm sort of a fan of this album. Pictured clockwise from top left are the OG, Plain, Art Vinyl, and VMP pressings.

The VMP is by far the best packaging. Sleeve is thick, heavy gatefold, and that image in the middle is hilarious-- I'm pretty sure those are the original CD blister packs, someone correct me if I'm wrong? I keep meaning to buy one for the novelty of it.

In terms of sound, I thought it was.... fine! About as good as the Art Vinyl pressing, which also has the original choral version of the first track. My copy was a little noisy, which shouldn't be a huge surprise since it was pressed at GZ. I'm actually a bit disappointed by this, since I expected a nice new master would elevate this record, but honestly the AVLP sounds just as good and maybe better. I don't know what sourcing the AVLP people used, or who mastered it, or really much of anything-- it was a hard record to track down. The VMP version is easily better than the Plain and the original though.

Anyway, I'm happy I have this. Like I said, this is easily a top 5 album for me. The VMP packaging is beautiful, I just wish they used a different mastering engineer, or pressed it somewhere better, or something, because it's definitely not as good as it could be. Oh well!
You're like the fourth person I've seen saying The pressing has noise. I'm so sick of GZ's shit. If VMP expect people to shell out $33 for these albums they have got to change where they get these pressed, it's a joke. My BVSC is riddled with noise as well...

I tried to get into this album because the package was great but could not get into it. But i could pif it to someone here . I think it was @Selaws

I think its one of the best packages they have done - in terms of quality and coolness. Shows what they could do even when subscription numbers were probably 50% of todays levels - Well pre price hike levels.
Assume after Demon Days everything ramped up !
