Classics is always great! Even the Herbie Hancock, Patrice Rushen and Albert King picks were great in my opinion! Loved spinning those three!

Rap & Hip-Hop was hit a miss in the first half of the year! Future and N*E*R*D’s were missed and I wasn’t over the moon with Salt-N-Pepa and Rick Ross! The Rick Ross pick was good, but I just liked the album, and same case for Salt-N-Pepa!

Classics is still my #1 sub, but the Essentials ROTM’s have been better this year than the Classics ROTM’s! Especially with OutKast, Erykah Badu and Billie Holiday coming up as the Essentials picks!!!

OutKast, Erykah Badu and Billie Holiday is the icing on the cake though! Then 3 Essentials + The Roots, Dirty Projectors, Spiritualized, Buena Vista Social Club, The Stooges, The White Stripes & Stevie Nicks! That is just incredible! ♥♥♥

I love VMP! They are doing so good at the moment with their R&HH ROTM picks too after the disappointing Future and N*E*R*D ROTM picks! Prince Paul, Lord Finesse, Ghostface Killah and now Redman!!!!! 😍🎯

I still think the N*E*R*D pick was great. I was a huge fan of In Search of... and when Fly or Die came out I thought it was really bad. I'm glad I got to revisit it, I think it's a really good album.

I like the album, and the VMP pressing sounds awesome! But I think it’s a disappointing pick because not only is a non hip-hop/rap album, but it’s not as good as good of an album compared to In Search Of... or Seeing Sounds, the albums released before and after Fly or Die!

I do still enjoy spinning the album but think it was definitely a poor choice as a R&HH ROTM!

True but no N*E*R*D album is truly hip-hop and they probably would never work as Essentials. I think In Search of.. is essential but most people would probably be upset with that pick. It is more in the ballpark than the Badu RHH pick, even though I am happy to have Badu however we get it. That "album" would have been a weird choice as Essentials as well.

Mmmmm I 100% agree with you! In Search Of... is Essentials but many would be disappointed!

If they want to out that much more liner notes they should better be hiring some competent editorial stuff otherwise just printing a link to the album wiki page might be cheaper and more educating

💯 - They would definitely need to hire some great editorial staff to give great info, not just the stuff you find on Wikipedia!

I mean you don’t need an influx of editorial staff, you just need an editor who is as capable of editing as they are at giving their employers customers snark on social media. Also the quality of the content of those booklets has always been questionable.

They have not a great track record of investing in such ways. For their luxury flagship "Anthologies" they did not put too much effort into the extras. So I don't expect much in that regard.
But he4y, maybe they give you rhh for free if you write the liner notes for this

mmmmm, yes that's true! They definitely need an editor who is capable like you said! I haven't read the Classics booklets, but there have always been typos and other errors found! ✍👀🔙

I'd be very happy to get the R&HH ROTM track for free and would actually be happy to give a a written page on why I think the album is exceptional and why I think you should pick it up! But....as if! I'd tell all you guys what the R&HH ROTM is in advance because I'm so bad at keeping secrets! 😈🤫

It would have to be a full colour booklet, though. Those emoji really loose their appeal in black and white
 
The things you do for Spiritualized! I'm interested to know what they do with Billie Holiday but they can keep Outkast and Badu for me. I'm always happy to be wrong but my guess is that they won't be doing a fresh remaster of Skankonia and will be using one of the many pressings already out there... but colouring it in a funky col.our... same for Badu. May get some AAA on the go for Billie Holiday. For those who dig represses of Outkast then I'm happy for you but I'm hoping Classics steps up to cover the next two months at least....

No emojis in the booklet! Just a lot of captivating, enticing, seductive, persuasive, alluring and striking words to make sure I can convince as many people as possible to spend USD$33 and pick up the R&HH ROTM! 😜😎🤝
