Vinyl Me Please Essentials

They would have to be superior to existing MOV's, LITA's , Grundman's, Gray's, etc while being more expensive so ok, your move VMP bud
Yeah. Goes both way. Last months Rollins was mega. Spiritualized better than the Plain (even with my glitches) but I'm always perplexed when people get giddy about the presses and talk about shifting existing stuff that may be of higher quality. If the pressing details are out and verified then fair enough but blind assumption that VMP has managed something unique and different isn't really backed up by its historical practices. At least not in Essentials.

I'm guessing the next two essentials are represses of something that's already out there. Not that I'm in for them anyway

The Stankonia and Mama's Gun probably aren't a giant improvement SQ-wise over the existing reissues, but the packaging at least will be better. The Classics releases should all be significant improvements over the existing versions though, with the exception of the Donny Hathaway. I'm sure it'll be a fantastic master, but the Speakers Corner Kevin Gray reissue is gonna be hard to top it sounds like.

Are we getting the next 3 announced today? I only jumped back in for a month for Spiritualized so just wondering when I can decide what to do. People seem pretty confident they know the next 3 already?

I'd be mildly happy about these if any of my last 3 essentials were actually a clean copy. But with 2 White Stripes, 2 BVSC and 2 Spiritualized all being duff copies I can't really bring myself to care about this...

were you happy with the John Mayer though?

:p

Sgt Pepper isn't great cause of the singles.

Sgt Pepper is one of the greatest albums ever recorded due to its outstanding production.

Sit down and listen straight through, those transitions are masterful.
There's a PBS Special about Sgt. Pepper and it's crazy some of the things they had to do to get some of those sounds that we take for granted today because you can do it in garage band.
