Would all be better 1971 essentials picks than Blue. If you are that horny for a great reissue of Blue, here you go:

Teenage Head would be a fantastic pick too! That gets reissued every once in awhile though (think it did in color in the last few years) and it’s a pretty raw album but definitely my favorite Flamin Groovies album.

There's still plenty of great albums from that year, so I am still holding out hope that it will be the definitive version of something good. They've done more experimental music the past few Januarys (okay, Moby isn't so experimental), so perhaps Can's Tago Mago?

Tago Mago would probably be my 1A pick besides Maggot Brain. I don't think there has ever been a great release of that besides early European pressings. The tapes are probably toast or in Germany somewhere. I would be down for a "best-available-source" reissue of that one in fancy packaging regardless.

Not sure who mastered that one, I know that the last time they did an all analog version besides the MoFi was back in the 80s. I think the 84 and 87 Tamla pressings are supposed to be outstanding. If they got RKS or KG to cut one from the OG tapes that would easily be the best version you can get other than the MoFi . You can throw your other copy away if VMP did that. I doubt they do that one though.
I have the late 80’s version and I can’t say it’s outstanding. Slightly more clear and clean than an original Tamla and that’s it. Probably the best standard version, but it’s just a dark sounding album and dense and just wasn’t a fantastic recording in the first place.

AAA reissues of Can’s catalog would be amazing. Great sounding albums. I doubt it’s going to be that either though I want it to be. Just got a color reissue last year through Mute who I believe has rights to the catalog at the moment. The Mute reissues are pretty good though. I’m happy with them. Try to seek out white Spoon labels of their albums. Ege Bamyasi is one of the best sounding records in my collection and it’s on that white label from the late 70’s or early 80’s.

They said 0/3 in a group of 3 predictions that included Comatorium.
Well to that I say BOO sir.

Though honestly I'm not surprised, pretty unlikely Cedric allows anyone near their albums unless they themselves are doing the re releases. Which means they will never happen and I will have to suffice with my boot of Frances The Mute and Nocturniquet.

Yeah those German '80/'81 Spoons are really great. I have Soundtracks, Ege Bamyasi, and Future Days. Unfortunately I haven't seen a reasonably priced Tago Mago in a long time.
