Vinyl Me Please Essentials

This is the exact mindset a weirdly large portion of their base has. They'll go on threads and call people asking for replacements "complainers" and "flippers". It's so stupid.
Yea--I used to be more active on the VMP subreddit but there's no point anymore. Any mild criticism is downvoted to oblivion and you're called a VMP hater or people tell you to unsubscribe. If you dare to mention that a VMP "exclusive" can be purchased somewhere else for cheaper, you're met with vitriol. There's the weird phenomenon of "my record didn't have an issue so therefore anybody who DID have an issue is wrong". I guess as with most places on the internet, there's only black and white and no grey areas can exist.

And the locking of any threads that criticize Storf is crazy.

Luckily after the Sam Hunt debacle people are starting to realize Storfers full of shit. Small victories.

But yea its crazy. The comments on that stupid meme have shifted from people clowning on him, to those comments getting downvoted and the top comments being on his side. I keep seeing posts along the line of "Im starting to really question whether there really are any problems at all or people are just being greedy" with dozens of upvotes. Absolute insanity.

Ha ha. Probably yes. People complain about the site, but honestly, I don't have any issues with it. Definitely informative as to what is "out there". Not sure I like every record shop basing their prices off of Discogs though.
Same here. only feature i wish they would introduce is being able to filter the wishlist emails by location. otherwise, it's pretty old but it works.

Yeah, I've had this a couple of times myself.

Like cool, you want to spend a ton more on records that's on you, don't shoot the messenger for telling you that you could actually save some money by not buying into their ridiculous pricing.

Yeah, it works well enough for me.. but it could be so much better.

Agree with the pricing sentiment though, I guess it’s better than using pre-internet vinyl pricing guides.

Though as a kid who collected Comic books and Basketball Cards and absolutely loved flipping through my dog-eared copy of Wizard and Beckett price guides.

It's just the fact that users are now making memes that actively try to make fun of other users.....I cannot for the life of me wrap my head around why someone would so subservient to a company like vmp, while verbally attacking anyone who says other wise.

If theres a silver lining its that people are ragging on this guy in the comments.
wasn´t there a time when the subreddit was all complaints about vmp so this seems to switch from time to time, but reddit seems to be a little bipolar anyways

This. Plus I wish their were more ways to filter collections. If you wanted to search by genre or style or 45”s or media type. Stuff like that seems like it would be very easy to interface.

Maybe? I've always seen it as an uber-positive vmp echo chamber where complaints are squashed. Once in while the issues pile up and they'll start tagging vmp staff, but the second the shiny new albums are announced the uber-positivity comes back. And now theres the crowd that actively laughs at the complaints, so that's new.

my view on the subreddid is kinda meta because i never spent time there myself and just have the second-hand reports from here, but i think there was a time when it was all raging with hate threads. i think around the time of people getting multiples of their orders and the strange prize raffle they had afterwards

yea --the hate was pretty strong when the price hike happened too. lots of threads got shut down.

Oh yes definitely. I remember that time. That's one of the times when the issues were just too big to ignore, but once they announced the next round of albums all those complaints mysteriously vanished. It's a cycle.

VMP sent one dude 50 copies of an album that only had 200 pressed. I believe he contacted the artist directly to send them back.

I made custom folders for 45s and LPs in my collection and sort them that way.
Correct, I have done the same but you shouldn’t have to, right? There are so many different categories listed on a Discogs entry, why not make it easy to search your own collection for any of those tags?

Should just do away with categories and just allow us to add our own tags. So you could limit your collection by 45s/subpop or LP/BlueNote
