Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Speaking of Springsteen...Did the Vol. 1 Box Set go OOP? I used to have it, but gifted it to my dad thinking I could easily get another one, but now it's gotten kind of pricy and hard to find in Canada.
I haven’t seen it in a long time in the US either. I got one in either a Target sale or Udiscover. Now volume 2 seems to pop up in less places as well.

It's kinda weird that is only the clean version of low end theory but I dunno if any other vinyl pressings had the swears uncensored (clean versions just don't work with me due to completely muting the rap which feels wrong)

I don't think the album was ever released fully uncensored. I've seen someone claim it was related to the terms agreed for clearing samples but I don't know if that is true.

not every swear is censored.. but it does seem like any usage of fuck is completely silenced... that's not a bad thing since it seems every version is like this, but its weird when you KNOW that a curse word was the end of a line and so you are dependent on the next line to even figure it out
It's not that weird since this is the only version of the album that's ever been released. Growing up in an era when rappers would routinely change their lyrics completely to get on the radio/MTV, a few censored muted curse words does not really alter my enjoyment especially when I have never heard it any other way.

Vibe says it was to secure Ron Carter for Verses from the Abstract:
Famed Jazz musician Ron Carter, who played double bass on “Verses From The Abstract,” only agreed to appear on the song under the condition that no profanity be used. The Low End Theory would be the only rap album that Ron Carter appeared on during his illustrious career.
You would think VMP would tell that story, at least.

Am I the only person that enjoyed Interpol’s “El Pintor”?

I agree that the whole new york early 2000s “scene” was highly overrated and that VMP is a little too obsessed. But i haven’t bought anything from VMP since my sub ended with spiritualized.

I’m going to guess that the 2005 album is The Bravery’s s/t debut.

Didn’t we have this discussion about Ron Carter WITH STORF around the time of the Sorcerer RotM when he gave all the clues as mixed up pictures?

Did the Lonesome Crowded West get a general repress? Just got a notification from my local it's back in stock. Back in stock on Amazon Canada too.

Not like I signed back up for it at $52USD or anything...that would be crazy.

Yeah I've seen it a lot of places on shelves. Standard black edition though, not the fancy VMP
