Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Theoretically, a heavier album will couple better to your platter reducing resonance causing better sound. @Mather would vehemently disagree about warpage too. I think it makes sense that if a heavier record were pulled off the press too soon it would be more likely to be warped. I would also say in my experience, lighter vinyl tends not to be warped as often.
Personally I don't give a toss about weight because I clamp everything down anyhow. And yeah if they are warped they're easier to deal with if they're lighter weight in my experience. Every OG Japanese pressing I have are very light weight and they sound fantastic.
But yeah don't advertise 180 then give us 130. THAT'S JUST POOR FORM YO

i think miseducation is the march "wow they are going for it" choice because of how difficult lauryn can be to work with.. but also is not that shocking since they did a fugees release so we knew they had a connection

Going through next year's anniversaries and jotting down a few I think would be good for Essentials (not that VMP would do any of them, or they're hard to find or haven't received a pressing recently).

But, in all seriousness, Blue Öyster Cult's Tyranny and Mutation would be a cool pick as well.

A 40th anniversary of "The Hurting" (would also take a definitive version of "Power Corruption and Lies") would definitely be something. Not a subgenre they regularly dip into. A 40th "Speaking in Tongues" would also be rad if the last reissue wasn't amazing.
I would love if they did more 80's albums. Give me all the Tears for Fears, Depeche Mode, the Cure, etc etc.
