Vinyl Me Please Essentials

I did get a chance to try a Guiness a little closer to the source when I was in London, and it was much better than the shit that makes it over seas.

It’s actually much more likely that the pub doesn’t have a clue how to deal with Guinness. It happens a lot in British pubs too that are chain or don’t sell a lot of it. The pipes need to be run clean at the end of every day, which isn’t always the case with lagers and ales and it’s at its best when it’s being ordered regularly and there’s a good consistency flow through the pipes. I’d say some more Irish areas over there might be ok?

Come to Ireland though sometime and we’ll get you a good pint.

One morning I watched as they did a monthly clean of our Guinness line at the bar I worked at and it was like a solid black turd and it smelled like one coming out of the beer line. I would only drink it on tap the week it got cleaned after that nightmare fuel.

Just wanna point out that rock artists tend to be a bit performative. Bob Dylan isn’t really a hobo street busking poet, Ozzy’s not a dark prince, and Bowie wasn’t a space alien.

If you need authenticity to enjoy music you are gonna miss out on a lot fun and amazing music.
I saw the Broadway performance. He's an accomplished musician and and by all accounts he and the E-Street band put on a fantastic show.

I don't need authenticity and I guess that's kind of my point.
I just always feel smacked in the face with how oh so hard Mr. Springsteen is trying to shove his "authenticity" down my throat without the slightest "wink wink nudge nudge " to say we all know what's going on here - that I just cant do it.

🤮🤮🤮

I’d shun a pub that only did it once a week, you get a sour “off” taste from Guinness if it isn’t done daily…

I mean neither is great. Heino is a bit stronger which gives it a bit more but it’s still piss. I’d avoid both. The problem I have with bud is that it tastes both quite watery of and incredibly chemical at the same time. I just find it, and miller and coors, pretty repugnant.

And this isn’t some kind of diatribe against brewing corps, I’m not a huge craft drinker either because it’s a market so dominated by IPA’s which absolutely aren’t my thing either. Just a nice stronger, flavourful lager over here please.
Miller Genuine Draft or High Life is the best of mass produced watery beers.

I’m quite enjoying Madri at the moment. Not sure if that’s made it’s way over the pond yet or not!

Yes! My brother was giving me that over the summer and it’s just made its way here the last couple of months. It’s definitely drinkable.

My old go to was old school 5% grolsch but since they pulled it and remarketed it as a 4% I’ve not gone back, generally not a fan of 4% lagers, prefer the ones around 5%, with the exception of Stella which sends me wappy!

Sorry @Lee Newman but I’m yet to find a mass market American or Canadian beer that’s preferable to sobriety. You do some nice craft stuff tbf but IPAs aren’t really my thing.
