I mean, they were inexperienced musicians basically forced by their delusional, superstitious father to shit out an album. And that's exactly what it sounds like. It only has the legacy it does because the of the outsider element to it. It's fascinating for one listen but not something I'd want to own on vinyl and definitely not "essential" in any way.All this and it's terrible. Someone can come along a explain the "beauty, brilliance and difficulty" of what they were doing. In the end it's just bad music. Why doesn't matter.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONow that The Shaggs has been mentioned I want nothing else. I’ll rejoin if it’s The Shaggs... YOU HEAR THAT VMP???
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I’ll cancel my membership if it’s The Shaggs
If it’s Top Drawer’s Solid Oak, i’ll definitely give it a go. I can imagine really immersing myself in this release when on high-quality vinyl!Hard pass if it's The Shaggs.
Top Drawer, however, intrigues me.

There’s something unique about this Top Drawer album. It sounds religious, reminds me a tiny bit of Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black and a bit of Tame Impala’s Lonerism. The vocals have this reggae touch to it and although the music is still very rock, it’s funky and holy and reminds me of an cute, outdated, ugly bar that still has character that you’d find in Red Dead Redemption!
My guess is German Oak - Down in the Bunker for a one-off psyche record. Obscure, but fairly well known in Kosmiche circles. It has had a few limited reissues as well.
Thats right, I forgot N&A did a reissue and subscriber exclusiveAbsolutely stunning record but there is no way Now Again would allow them to re-issue it after putting it out on their subscription service.
The upcoming month's Essentials pick is going to be "the most crate digger album ... this year" according to storf, who added that it was on a label that only released that album according to discogs.
I think we're getting this one.

There is no way in hell VMP would do the Shaggs for an ROTM, lol.
The Shaggs sound like something a cannibal serial killer would play while he bastes me before he puts me in the oven to cook me.All this and it's terrible.
