Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

Death Grips are wild man! Check it out and get ready for your brain to explode! Their music is like a mix of adrenaline, rollercoaster, letting it all out, mixing your brain, nightmarish yet club, catchy sounds that’s just super eccentric! I suggest you listen to their album “The Money Store”! It’s excellent! 🔥🔥🔥
I checked out one of their albums before many years ago. It was black and white cover think he had a pigs mask on and some S&M shit lol hope I'm right or i will come across really strange here 🤣

Death Grips- No love deep web/Jenny Death
Interesting choices in fave DG albums 🤔 and I don't mean that in a bad way! That's just an interesting combo, that's probably two of their most "aggressive" albums but in fairly different ways. I usually group both halves of TPTB together but if I did it separately I might give NOTM the edge

That’s the album!!! Listen to it again! It’s so good! 🔥🔥🔥🐷
Will do. I wanna say I heard it around 6-7 years ago so it's been a long time. There used to be a good page on Instagram called TheRealHipHopJunkie but he was just a kid and sadly he cracked up, got too many followers way too quick and couldn't handle any criticism shut all his socials down but he was a real good way of finding stuff i wouldn't usually listen to. He got me into Tame Impala among others. He was crazy for Death Grips and I remember trying that album but 6/7 years ago but I wouldn't have been as open minded as I am now so may enjoy it more today

But, realistically, what did it add - a couple of minutes?
i mean yeah but i hate when a certain thing is repeated way too many times... for example in the microphones "the glow pt 2" the album is ruined by the drone that is all over the last half of that album because it was great as a transition into one song and not for anything else and it makes me just wonder "ok how many songs are left". and if i start to wonder how many songs are left on an album or where the hell i am on the album thats how you know its a flawed album

Ah screw it, I'm bored so imma do a DG ranking 😀
  1. The Powers That B
  2. Bottomless Pit
  3. NO LOVE DEEP WEB
  4. Year of the Snitch
  5. Steroids
  6. The Money Store
  7. Exmilitary
  8. Fashion Week
  9. Government Plates

The Money Store at #6!!! 😵🤔😱

And Exmilitary at #7! 🤨
To be clear pretty much everything from 7 up gets a near perfect score for me so it's really hard to rank them without it seeming weird. The same thing happens when I try to rank the Radiohead discography too. On my personal ranking, Kid A would be fairly low but that doesn't mean I don't love it, I just love other RH albums more. Same with TMS, it's a great album and deserving of its praise, but i think I've just heard those songs so many times it's gotten knocked down a bit lol. Exmilitary is only so low because some of the songs go on a bit too long but I also consider it one of the best debut albums (or "mixtape") ever.

Not really on topic but Mr. Bongo is having their Summer sale and Skalap suggested Jungle Brown’s Full Circle I am not super familiar with much UK hip-hop but this album is fantastic. It’s got like an early 90s Native Tongues vibe to it and the production is phenomenal. I feel like I should have heard about it before now. Were any of ya familiar with them?

I know @scotthilk has (or had) a copy of this album. I have one too. Great album! Everybody should jump on the record at this price.

Didn't scroll back too far, but y'all see the Salt N Peppa write up from Storf?

Most discussions of the album begin and end with "Let's Talk About Sex," arguably one of the most important rap songs with regards to sexual politics

It's more political than you remember!

I don't really understand why it is arguably one of the most important. Isn't the message just sex shouldn't be taboo and you could get an STD? Not like it was the first hip hop song to do that. Certainly a good message though.
