Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

Come on guys I just woke up and now its not Apollo kids anymore??? Noooooooooooo. If it’s really legend of the liquid sword then I can’t justify it at the new price tbh, no disrespect to the GZA but not for me. This sucks :(

The evidence for Apollo Kids was always flimsy at best. We need to figure out the 120 and 132 clues to figure out the specific album but looking like it’s not Ghostface. Would be cool if they did some Wu store exclusives with it though...But not sure that will happen.

in addition, how would the “uniquely public consternation“ fit in with GZA? I feel like we’ve never seen that side of GZA as he may be the most reserved publicly out of the clan.

If you're going to charge $33 for an add-on track this 5th best album shit isn't going to fly anymore at least with me! I'm listening to this GZA record right now, it's fine, I'd throw like $10 down for it if I saw it in the field but $33? Nah, I can find way better records I'd actually enjoy for that money!

Wait...you mean you don't want to drop $33 on "definitive" versions of "overlooked" albums??

Exactly! Even worse for me because if I want it I have to renew at $43 and ain't no way in hell I'm doing that for this album. I love the GZA but nah fam. I would have done it to Apollo Kids solely off the personal love I have for it.

or Words From the Genius

edit: "I was signed to Cold Chillin' 'bout five years ago," GZA recalled in 1995. "They put out an album but didn't promote it. They tried to put it out again last year after everything happened with the Clan, put a '94 date on it, but still didn't put any money behind it, so it didn't sell twice. I'm still proud of it, though. The beats ain't all that but, lyrically, shit was bangin'. So it wasn't all peaches and cream, but I was determined to break through. 'A quitter never wins, and a winner never quits.'"[3]
Is this regarding his debut?

I think it's hard to argue GZA has more than one essential album. That one is definitely in contention for best Wu solo of all, but the rest aren't.

This is why GZA changed from my favourite Wu member to GFK. When I was a teen and I started listening to Wu albums GZA was my favourite, then first solo album I heard was Liquid Swords and it confirmed it until I moved on to his other albums and other Wu members i realised while he is an extremely strong lyricist his solo stuff bar LS doesn't hold a flame to projects by other members
