Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

I can definitely see a case that he could've died about 5 years ago and still held on to the genius title, despite his troubles at that time.
I can’t think of how quickly someone’s professional reputation has been trashed in less than a decade. In 2013, he was on the short list of greatest album artists of all time. Since then his work has pretty much stunk (I didn’t really like Life of Pablo) and I can’t think of any celebrity who has gone so far out there. It’s both sad and disgusting in equal measures.

I can think of a few that have come close but none were near the caliber of Kanye. In 2013 he and Kim K. were well on their way to becoming American royalty (along the lines of Beyoncé and Jay-Z). I think most of this spiral is due to the fact that he has no anchor in his life to keep him from getting swept up in whatever is around him. Dude has mental illness issues and needs a strong presence in his life to keep him on track, he lost that initially when his Mother passed away. He regained it to some extent with Kim but once their marriage effectively ended he has no one left to help him. Everyone around him now is using him as a prop. Eventually the shock value fades and the money dries up and he is gonna be left with next with next to nothing.

Given the access they seem to have to the Wild Pitch catalogue, could UMC's 'Fruits of Nature' be an option... it would be a bit unusual to have back-to-back releases from the same label (especially given the recent Gang Starr release too) but it's the one Wild Pitch LP more than any other that's crying out for a reissue and although it's probably faded into obscurity a bit over the years, anyone who was listening to hip-hop back then knows it's up there with the best of the class of '91...
Blue Cheese!

Does anybody's Dilla not have noise all over D1? I'm just wondering if I ask for a replacement.
Yes, disc 1 both sides.
I feel like even without the noise the pressing is kind of all over the place...I'm not sure if that's just how it was recorded/mixed or what but it's definitely one of my least favourite RHH albums I've received in some time.

What kinda noise? Typical GZ crackle? Mine seems clean on all sides.

I don’t remember being thrilled with that Deck album but it’s been a while. If I recall the original beats for this album were lost in the flood in RZAs basement or whatever.
I think it is a solid album and likely would have been more well regarded had it been released in 94 instead of 99. IMO it’s a bit of a hidden gem. Just a tier below some of the all time Wu classics with the added benefit that I didn’t listen to it a ton when it was initially released so the songs aren’t as overly familiar.

Oh right, I remember reading about this project and how they had to start over. I'll definitely check it out since it's a Wu album.
