Just got this.
We are emailing you to provide an update on Ol’ Dirty Bastard Return to the 36 Chambers.
In March, we featured Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s Return to the 36 Chambers as our Hip-Hop Record of the Month. Due to the demand, that title was oversold, and we were forced to make the tough decision to delay the record for a small handful of folks, to ship in June.
Around the time that copies were landing on customers doorsteps, we started getting reports of a pressing defect on disc two of Return to the 36 Chambers. In the last minute of side D, on the final track, “Harlem World,” the audio cuts out during the intro, in a very strange way.
We then started to investigate exactly what happened — the file was corrupted when being transferred to be lacquered — and because it happened on beat, it was extremely difficult to catch during our QA processes. But that doesn’t sit well with us: We want this to be the best version of the album that’s ever existed. So, we had new lacquers cut, and had to work out with the label about how to ship this, and how to make sure the tests were perfect for this new edition, which took more time than we’d have liked.
But, finally, we have an update:

But, finally, we have an update:
- If you received your copy of Return to 36 Chambers already, come October, you will be shipped a replacement disc 2, with the corrected version of “Harlem World.”
- If your copy was delayed entirely, you will receive your copy of the album — with the corrected version of “Harlem World” — in October as well.
