Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

Lol dang... That Skull Snaps album is in the discount bin at my local store. I think it's 8.99 brand new. Over the weekend our Norman, OK store was having a sidewalk sale and I could have gotten 50% off. I chose to get Tomorrow's Modern Boxes (first release originally 49.99) for about 12 and How to Destroy Angel's debut LP for 9. Oh and I picked up Anima.

Anway sorry to brag. I just thought it was funny because of how much VMP is charging for it. I might just go get that copy for myself. It's been sitting there for a long time.

Good price on Tomorrow's Modern Boxes. I remember seeing it for sale for like, $80 lol. I eventually got it myself when it went to clearance for about $25.

Anyways, it's your duty to go back and get that Skull Snaps for $9, just fyi.

After reading some forum chatter before the VMP store drop, I checked out Power of Zeus, Bongo Rock, and Skull Snaps. The first two grabbed me immediately but Skull Snaps ..not so much. I grabbed Bongo and Zeus from Mr. Bongo because I didn't need color variants and was pretty pleased with them. I warmed up to Skull Snaps recently and would spin it as much as the other two. I guess what I'm saying is...maybe I should just order Skull SNaps from Mr. Bongo and save some money..

I love Skull Snaps and Bongo Rock, though Power of Zeus to me was meh. I found one on Discogs one on eBay both for approximately $16 each and couldn’t be happier. Having standard black is fine. The colored presses look alright but they are never going to be super valuable; they’re niche releases and their initial value was driven more by scarcity than popularity and since the reissue there is more than enough to go around. Unless you are in love with the colored presses, save some $$ and get the standard press. Buy Skull Snaps. It’s pretty great.

VMP is intentionally trying to get all of us to unsub bc of these boring ROTMs so when they do Channel Orange none of us get it.
They're gonna make the clues for Channel Orange point to some mediocre southern rap album that you can buy on discogs for free.99

I mean... they got so many people on the Outkast 3 month sub that they're rolling out throw in's as the RHH tracks.

Tical was at least acceptable IMO, but if it's Hud Dreams I'm gonna swap out. Not even for just the reason that I don't really care about the album, but unless they run low pressing numbers it'll be available for everrrr in swaps if I change my tune.

I love how the Skull Snaps album looks like a heavy metal cover, but when you put it on it's a Funk record. I've rolled in to work blasting I'm your pimp a lot in the last few months .That bone color is pretty cool looking, I think the swap price of $23.00 is my sweet spot for it, if It doesn't make it to swaps I'll save the money and buy the standard black version.

Ya know what, I'm probably alone on this one, but if they made this Hud Dreems pressing 1 LP and put tracks 1-13 on side A and 14-26 on B I'd grab it. Gimme about 20 minutes a side so I don't have to get up much and I may be with it! Lol
I’d also like that! I have a really good feeling about this exclusive. I feel like it will stand out compared to the other pressings in some way! 1LP and bonus material on a 7” would be 👌

Call it coincidence but it seems Youtube agrees with us!!!! I just finished track 13 of the album, and BOOM first commercial break! Maybe it's a sign of good things to come!!! :)

Pretty pumped for Hud Dreems. Not really that familiar with it at all but I love Instrumental albums, it's why my Jazz albums probably get more play than anything else. I have alot of Hip-Hop albums in my collection but they just don't get as much play as I feel like they usually require more active listening to get full enjoyment (and my wife is not a huge fan except for Lizzo, Lil Wayne, and Megan Thee Stallion).

I love Knx, but Hud Dreems is kind of a weak choice when there are so many great albums from the last few years that don't have any vinyl press. This one is super readily available. I hope they do something crazy to differentiate it from the current pressing I already have, a 7" isn't really enough IMO. Surprise drop a new NxWorries on us then I'd be @NathanRicaud level hyped ;)

But, but, but, Nathan, what about a 4LP at 45RPM, on bright orange light in the dark neon ? You always loved 45RPM !
Hud Dreems ain’t good enough to deserve that special treatment! I want Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly to have that special kind of treatment! Not Knxwledge’s Hud Dreems.

But yeah.....I love 45RPM! Especially because there’s a good chance it’ll sound sexy when the record is slowed down and played at 33RPM! 🤫😜🙊

I feel like I’m the target audience for the RHH sub! i don’t have many hip hop LPs at all, and I don’t know anything about the genre other than dim memories of the stuff that infiltrated pop culture in the 80s, 90s, and early aughts. I’d never heard of Madlibs until this year! I’m digging what I’ve heard of this knxledge fella, and I’m gonna definitely keep this month’s pick.

That being said, I would LOVE for @Clint Howard or @Dead C or another super-knowledgeable person in the scene to do something similar to what @Goatfish has been doing with metal during his N&G month. I’ve learned so much about metal because of that! It would be super cool for me to get that experience with hip hop (and a whole bunch of other genres I don’t know much about)!

I WOULD LOVE SOMEONE TO DO HIP HOP N&G AOTM!!!! That would be badass!
