Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

Crazy he continues to be and has been wu associated for so long

There's a number of reasons and apparently Mike Caruso still has like family dinners and shit with Peter Gatien. He's even in the movie about Peter Gatien directed by his daughter?

If you've ever seent the movie Party Monster with Macauley Culkin, the 'villain' with the eye patch? That's Peter Gatien.

It's not bad. About the party scene in NY in the 80s if that interests you. Gatien ran all the hot clubs in NY at the time (despite being Canadian) and one of his star DJs was Lord Michael. I worked next door to Gatien years later so it was really interesting meeting a real life dude who gets portrayed as an eye-patch wearing villain in a movie.

I met him all of once. In the back loading area when he (probably coked to the gills) backed his car up super fast into a pillar. Had some hot young lady with him too so dude's still got it. Beyond that, the club, Circa was insane. It was the first club in Toronto to attempt to mimic the mega clubs in Europe and shit. It was the spot in the city until it got shut down for drugs and shit.

Lol damn cool story. Thanks for sharing

I came here to say it’s gonna be Love King. It’s a modern classic whether or not people on this site would agree. The only modern classics on that def jam list are How I Got Over, Love King, MBDTF, and Sir Lucious.

I could be misremembering this but I’m pretty sure Storf was tweeting about Love King justttttt the other day.

I played this record into the GD ground in 2010. “Love King”, “Yamaha”, “F.I.L.A.”, “Turnt Out”. Damn.

I use the term "modern classic" loosely but even I don't see how that album could be called one. I've barely even heard of it, and it doesn't look like it's even got that much attention since its release.
I'd say the only real modern classic, out of the ones you listed, is MBDTF.
I would say don’t base calling an album a modern classic on whether you’ve heard it or not. It was lauded when it came out. Plenty of classics I completely miss.
