Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

"fReEsHiPPinG"

It's not free if you're paying for it and it comes to more than the other pressing from XL after shipping. Their markups are so high that they still clear a good 4 or 5 bucks more than other pressings after shipping.

One of the benefits advertised to being a member was cheaper pricing than stores. That was back when they just "curated" the store and had non VMP pressings in there. The fucked up part was that their shop wasn't actually any cheaper -- at least toward the end.

Amazon logic, and works incredibly well. If we add shipping charges into the cost of everything than we can ship them all together and bank the excess!

Grabbed the last one on bandcamp. $24.50

better variant, an obi strip, and $4.50 cheaper. Great addition to my electronic section

XL and her store has them, too. Unfortunately, the signed was gone fairly early. Incidentally, it was also cheaper than VMP.

From Pauly...

Hey there,

Thanks so much for reaching out! We expect that we'll be able to release more stock of 'Hello Operator b/w Jolene' for sale sometime within the next few days. I went ahead and added you to an internal waitlist we have for that title, and we'll reach out if we're able to secure a title for you. Don't hesitate to reach out if there's anything we can help with moving forward.

And HOLY SHIT!!??? An actual response within 10 minutes?

I really liked when VMP had curated store titles that shipped from their warehouse (rather than a separate distributor, which was usually more expensive).
They had a few albums that were hard to get elsewhere and sometimes cheaper. I bought Saba's Bucket List Project from the store a month after it had been sold out everywhere else.

Having store drops once a month made it a lot more exciting in general though.

Pauly has to be on cloud 9 with the new “no manual swaps” policy. In a way, I feel happy about the change if for nothing else than that Pauly deserves a break.
He tried to pass it off on Reddit that they might eventually go back to manual swaps but we all know what that means. He's absolutely thrilled with it on the inside haha. If I was a VMP CS rep, I'd throw a shit fit every time their website crashed and tell them to just hire somebody to fix it already.

Don't we all agree that manual swaps were dumb and they should never have been a thing?

However, the customer friendly fix would be to add all the albums to swaps, not to just get rid of them. That's how I feel at least.
I whole-heartedly agree with you. Anything in stock in the store (box set aside) should be in swaps. I get why they don't put pre-orders in swaps but everything else should be fair game. Nobody would be asking for manual swaps then unless they get locked out of the system and are unable to swap.

One of the most fucked up things about VMP is that they create a situation where a service becomes necessary and that's the exact moment that they choose to pull it. I'd never done a manual swap before. Then, last announcement day they fucked everything up SO BAD that they literally had to rely on manual swaps to fix it, complete with a mass emailed form specifically for that. Immediately afterward, they pull manual swaps? We've all just seen specific examples for why they might be necessary and the importance of them, so they remove them? Then their site crashes again, yesterday. Brilliant. It really instills a ton of fucking confidence in your subscribers.

The more that their shipping went downhill and packages arrived damaged, they didn't fix the shipping issues, but rather, changed their damage return policies. As the problems begin to amplify and they lose customers, they don't focus on incentives to get new people to check it out, but remove the one month policy, instead. They double down and try to trap people in longer subscriptions.

This is why so many of us don't really trust them. It's fucking crazy.

Most of us have dealt with these clowns for a loooong time, so we know what we're dealing with, but imagine if you are a brand new customer that only joined because of the $54 for 3 months deal. Think about what your first impression would be. They couldn't even keep it together for a small window of time to put their best foot forward. They arbitrarily selected albums for people last month.

The VMP site landing page should just be a rusty steel door with a guy looking through a peep and a giant sign that reads "ALL SALES FINAL! NO REFUNDS!"

It was pretty great to watch the reddit sub and social media yesterday when swaps failed again. LOTS of negative comments. As you said, all those new people who just signed up with the buy 2 get 1 free sub are gonna bail after this. There were lots of comments about people cancelling their subscription. Between the site malfunctions and a disappointment for a lot of people in the curation, I think they'll lose a lot of customers at the end of this month.

My buddy joined for the deal and he had to email VMP to ask if they were ever going to send out his May records. They responded and said that they have "released the order now and should be getting a shipping notification soon". So he had to email them to remind them to mail the record hah.
