Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

To comment on Crate Digger track: if VMP thinks they can uncover new ground that Light In The Attic , Numero, Now Again , and Real Gone haven't found then good luck.
I think its more likely that they would do what they have done in the past, making a deal with the labels to have an exclusivity period. I remember being really excited when they released all of the Oneness Of Juju exclusives and they were unavailable elsewhere. At this point Now Again have released all of them.

I honelty dont think VMP would even know where to start when 'discovering' forgotten gems.

I agree with all of that. More and more their "exclusive" arrangements for this sort of thing are in reality just temporary delusions before they get a wider (and regularly less expensive) release direct from the labels. If people are into that sort of thing, wonderful. I mostly find it annoying.

I was thinking the same thing. If they can’t even move country exclusives or country albums in the Essentials track I seriously doubt they’d create a track devoted to that genre.

I’m hoping it’s either rock or some sort of crate digger track.
I think crate digger track will be garbage though or albums that are easily gotten from Now-Again, LITA, Mr. Bongo, etc. I think it would all just get repressed by all of those labels.

VMP can’t even handle doing 3 tracks properly though...what makes them think they can add a 4th without issue? BVSC is a ready being advertised as having a delay for new customers. Adding a 4th track means more swaps, likely more customers, more issues and longer CS times. They are slapping bandaids on things left and right. If they add another track I agree with most of the people on here that they need a better, new curator.

Is Now again actually a good label when it comes to pressing quality? I used to think they have poor quality, but maybe I'm mixing them up with something else.
The Zamrock Anthology sounds great although I know VMP was involved. I think their own stuff is hit or miss. I don’t think they tend to go to the higher end mastering and pressing plants and they cheap out on things like paper sleeves from their releases I have.

I mean in the magazine article about bvsc Storf writes about how this album sold millions of copies and was everywhere in the us and ends the text with "We love doing left-field records, and this is the big one for this year:"
that entire write up is a joke. “We don’t even want to spoil the art print—it’s THAT cool”

*scolls up to see header image with the art print on it* (interestingly they went back and deleted the line from Storf about this)

“it’s been out of print in the US since it’s first vinyl release.”

*checks discogs....oh...well that’s not true*

“you couldn’t escape the album. It sold millions. It had an academy award Winning documentary made about it” but also “we love choosing left-field records”

Storf’s write ups remind me of when I was in middle school and wrote an essay 10 minutes before it was due.

I hadn’t considered that... You’re absolutely right. And stuff like James Sullivan and Experience Unlimited all got releases outside of VMP months later, making VMP pressing them less of a big deal.

First: yall asking for a new track are masochists of the highest order. When Cam tried to get us psyched about a new track almost two years ago we all told him that they needed to pump the brakes and figure out their business first before adding more. Of course then they added anthologies. But hey I've never heard a single complaint about anthologies so its going well.

Second: if you want a country/alt/folk vinyl sub then those exist. You don't need to rely on VMP to tell you what to listen to.

Third: the first crate digger pick will be Whipped Cream and Other Delights.

Yea--why would all these labels want to do all the hard legwork, tracking down master tapes, doing all the research, creating all of the album art just to get a small licensing fee from VMP and for VMP to get all of the credit? They give VMP a year exclusivity period or less and then press a black vinyl copy for cheaper.
