Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

I want to cancel a vmp order - coral keys - mainly because I realize I can get this locally which I didn't realize would be the case when I ordered..

Anyway I think I bought it partly with credits and partly with cash. Is it possible that refund me everything to my PayPal or would the credits go back to credits? I really don't want a balance with them since I'm not a member.

The credits were assigned for a damaged record.

I would just ask CS to cancel your pre order and to give you a refund and see what they do. I think they'll do it.

Slightly off topic question:
Why do people say Sam Hunt is country music???

He might have some esthetics of country music, but that's it. It's as country as Madonna's "Don't tell me". And I like his music, but that's not country. Where does that come from?

On the other hand and comparing devils, Shabaka's last album is $21,99 on Amazon and $39 on VMP.
Yes, this is true, but this is the same for everything Amazon sells. You’re better off not buying from the Blue Note store if you want to get The Tone Poet albums, as they are USD$35, compared to like USD$25 from Amazon. Same thing with Shabaka, how much was it from their store?

Jessie ware’s vinyl at her store was £20.99 (AUD$38) + shipping. At Amazon, I purchased it for AUD$27. So, you are saying it’s good to purchase from Amazon then!

I am not saying it's good. I am comparing Amazon with VMP the same way you compare VMP with a small label and/or artist. You'll always have ways to save money purchasing from bigger players. I prefer to give my money to the artists/labels ($10 different isn't a big difference) than to a company who asked me what I could do with more time :)

I’m happy to give money to the artists and labels too, but then I have to pay on average a USD$20 shipping fee, and the $20 isn’t going to the artist, it’s going towards the shipping company. So that’s why I don’t support labels directly. I still do it occasionally (just purchased some stuff off from George Clanton recently even though shipping was a lot). But yeah, I don’t support labels directly due to shipping costs which is a shame.

That’s why nearly all my purchases are via Amazon and VMP because they do free shipping. Shipping determines a lot of the times what I ‘cannot’ buy.

5 times!? More like a 1000 😆 But eh if you say it enough maybe the universe will answer your call 🤷‍♂️
It probably felt like 1000 times because it was annoying, but I only said that I really don’t want VMP to do a country track around 4-6 times! 🙈

No, I’m not going to say it again because it’s not nice and it’s childish! I was being childish when I look back! But still......🥺🥺🥺

Sam Hunt is country. Genres are stupid in general but if we’re going with them he most definitely is. Music is constantly shifting and morphing and just because he doesn’t fit into the traditional mold doesn’t make it less country. He infused a lot of other genres into his music and imo he is the absolute cream of the crop when compared to his contemporaries. It’s why his albums have been lauded. It feels honest and organic. It feels like he actually cares about the music he is creating and respects what he pulls from. SOUTHSIDE is excellent.

even when his lyrics fall back on country tropes they always seemed to be delivered with a wink and a serving of self awareness. “Hard to Forget” is one of the best songs of the year.

I mean he took a 6 year break between albums (a certain death sentence in modern country music) and opened SOUTHSIDE with a ballad. And it’s like he never left. Really speaks to the staying power of the songs on Montevallo

What's all this people talking country and not throwing Gram/ Burritos/ Gram era Byrds in about? Grevious Angel should be in everyone's record collection. Gram And Emmylou busting out the harmonies is a massive yes! As should Sweetheart for that matter and Gilded Palace of Sin and Burrito Deluxe.
If you are looking for a quality reissue of Flying Burritos Brothers look no further...

It’s Country just not good Country. “Country” is like “Rock” genrewise it casts a wide net.

Not sure if I should be angry or happy that the shipping is outrageous.
