Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

I am unsure if someone may have posted this already or if this the incorrect thread for it, but I remember @Sanders mentioning that VMP's The Spins event was "on pause" for a summer break (I was able to confirm this early last month).

Now, when you click "The Spins" underneath the "Community" subheader on your account page, you get a 404 error! Obviously clicking "Join the Forum" leads to the message of VMP forum closure.

So...what's the point of the "Community" subheader even existing? I have a feeling that they've killed off their "The Spins" event permanently. The one that I went to in my city was terrible, in my experience.

They're working on it.

Interesting...

How many people are really going to want Jolene? I mean it's old country music by a woman, that can't be that popular. I'm saying this because I hope there are enough leftover to make it into the swap pile. I'm guessing it won't make it into swaps until it's actually released. Is that right?

Weyes Blood arrived! The autographed thingy that came with it is nice.

Oh come on, after all this time and not even a picture to share?

You mean one of the most loved songs ever?

Yeah, it won't probably be up for swaps until it releases.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's dead. Bummer, I really liked my local Spins. It was near my work, fun atmosphere, and one month my wife won a copy of Mitski. RIP hope Green Bean still has a job.

I'm really excited for Forevher! I'll (hopefully) have my pre-order of that coming in my September box! Hard Core is solid too, I'll probably be grabbing that, by @NathanRicaud's recommendation.

My favourite is easily Mariah Carey’s “Daydream”! My second favourite would be Lil’ Kim’s “Hardcore”, another classic 90’s record!

I absolutely love the music on Eric Dolphy’s “Out There” too. Out There has a very open and wandering sound! It reminds me of young cartoon character exploring and being clueless and silly, but entertaining.

I like some of the singles of Shura’s upcoming album. The Stage and Religion are both confident, old-school sexy tracks that have really catchy melodies to it. Not really feeling BKLYNLDN though. Shura’s vocals are drab and too processed for the aesthetic of that song. The beat switch is really awkward too unfortunately on BKLYNLDN.

Kindness also interests me, most notably because of the nature, fresh air, spacious funky Hard To Believe. Jasmine Sullivan also fits the aesthetic of the song effortlessly. However, Kindness’ other two singles are a bit just fine. Lost Without sounds like a an OK track on JMSN’s latest album and Cry Everything has this fashion-forward ambient Jamie Woon feel that’s nice. But the song never really takes off...

They are my picks! The rest I would not recommend on picking up personally.

Mariah Carey’s Daydream is also a true VMP exclusive! It’s hard to find an affordable brand new copy of Lil’ Kim’s Hardcore too! And the colour variant looks awesome! We’ve been having some confident nasty girls releasing some great hip-hop music, from Megan Thee Stallion, Cupcakke to City Girls. Lil’ Kim’s Hardcore is so hilarious and raunchy, it’s an instant winner!

Does someone have a feel for how long the two Prestige titles will last? I was thinking of swapping, but that's still a ways off. Also not sure it will even be available as a swap.

Dolphy just needs to last ~2 weeks. I think it will make it.
I'm gonna say it now. Dolphy is absolutely going to be swappable. That album has been on Newbury Comics forever at this point at 500 copies, and it still has not sold out. It'll make it :)

I'm looking forward to North Hills and Mariah being swappable.

Forever Turned Around and Anak Ko I've already purchased from their respective stores, so I am excited for them, just not as VMP exclusives.

Haven't listened to Hard Core.

Room 41, Miami Memory, and forevher sound neat, but I don't need them in record format.

Neon Brown, Out There, and Something Like A War I feel nothing for. I'm not interested.
