Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Yea--I think this could make the art prints much better for ROTMs as a start. Mondo always had cool art and packaging but their pressings usually were pretty mid to bad. And I bet they bring a lot of the good artists from Mondo over since many seemed disillusioned by Funko's strategy after they bought Mondo. This COULD be a good partnership with VMP...getting people like RKS to cut their records.

Seems like they plan to do a bunch of soundtracks in the style of Mondo, a ROTM track, maybe some posters instead of art prints on occasion....lots of possibilities.

Matt Taylor has already said he's working on something for this. I'm sure he's not the only one.

So, does anyone else have the VMP version of Honky Château and if so does your copy have a lot of loud pops/clicks on Tiny Dancer Rocketman? Sent a video today, hoping it's not a pressing issue and I just got a bum copy.

If your Honky Chateau has Tiny Dancer on it, then I think there are bigger issues at play.

Mines on the way, I'll check Rocketman when it arrives. But I haven't seen any mention of noise on the pressing, yet...

Any Canadian VMP subscribers had their order shipped through DHL and not only has the tracking number format changed, but there's no last mile delivery tracking number as per usual (it's around this time I get a TForce tracking number under details)?

I'm hoping I'm wrong on this one, but I'm starting to get the feeling that the party is over and this is the month that I'm going to get hit with duties.

I have not had a shipping notice yet and I just signed up for 6 months so I have 3 freebies coming, so I really hope not. The duties on the Cadet Anthology really hurt

Yup, same with the duties on Vanguard.

I really hope not, but I do feel like it's only a matter of time before the hammer falls. I've stopped ordering from the US because I get hit with stupid amounts of duties every time, and VMP is the last place I know I'm not getting slapped with a charge. This is month 2 of a 6 month membership and I'm not sure what I'm going to do if they start now. Like, I can afford it, but I really don't want to pay MORE for it.

No shipping notification for me as of yet, I actually haven't had an order from them in forever! I have just been swapping for credit for months! If I have to factor in duty I'll probably be out unless it's something that is a true exclusive which hasn't happened in a while or at least I haven't noticed!

Isn't the duty threshold in Canada low as shit? Like $25 or something stupid like that? Taxes I'm ok with, can't avoid them forever it's the "service charge" that always hurts!

My Honky Chateau shipment has been "en route to distribution centre" for 11 days. But I did get a shipment last month and it still went through TForce, so I'm not seeing any changes yet.

Yeah, it's pretty low but not sure the exact amount. I've paid a stupid amount on a single $40 vinyl from the US in the past year - it doesn't make sense to order from there anymore. Europe or Canada is the best bet. If I AM going to be in fact, hit with duties and it's coming through DHL you can bet it's going to make the price per vinyl upwards of $80CAD.

Yeah, mine did go through TForce last month no problem. This one has been en route for longer than normal without the TForce tracking number added and the tracking number itself has changed from like 14 letters/numbers to 30 letters/numbers/dashes and VMP sprinkled throughout. Could be innocuous, but it definitely caught my eye.

Is yours actually moving? Or is it also stuck on way to distribution centre? Could explain the delay in TForce showing up.

If it comes via Canada Post, you should be good until $100. I've only been dinged by them once and it was when I crossed the $100 threshold. The courier companies do whatever the fuck they want and can charge "brokerage fees" (usually $30+) whether your shit actually qualified for duty or not. UPS and DHL are the absolute worst for this. FedEx is awful but seems a little more reasonable (barely!)

I'm not sure what the deal is with a lot of stuff shipped via DHL since most starts with them and switches to Canada Post at the border, but not always (and, I guess, TForce with VMP, which started my last few months as a member.) I've had some shipments start with UPS and switch to Canada Post as well.

Regardless, I still order (too) often from the US if I know it's being sent USPS and have never had an issue when under $100. Sure it takes 2, or 3 weeks, but I can live with that.

@Ethos99 has been consistently amazing for cross-border shipping for me, via Paladin and Apocalypse both. Apocalypse has a decent base rate and a very low per additional item rate. When I went over $100 with the Neu! boxset it was under $14 in additional charges when I went to pick my package up. They go through Global Logistics, who my postal outlet guy said always manage to get the lowest rates if fees do occur. I've also had great experiences with a bunch of labels and a few shops scattered around. Happy to advise fellow hinterland folk, if interested. (Perhaps we could even start a Canadian Shipping thread to share tips and tricks...?)
