Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Afro-Harping is definitely the most exciting title for me in the Cadet set too.
I remember streaming it when they first announced it and thinking it was ace. But I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve tried from that box so I reckon it’ll see some good use.

Kinda stuff that makes me realise I really need to up my old fashioned cocktail mixing game as I reckon it’s the perfect accompaniment to getting absolutely faced on whisky

VMP knows how to make individual codes. They're fully aware of the choices they are making and the repercussions.
To answer a previous question it's partly this. I believe it was also mentioned that there was a system to handle this but they just wanted to get it out there. Then they just go and do it again but for discord people. It all feels super fake and performative, and the end goal is to just sell boxes. The super weird guilt involved too was just off putting (and maybe it's because I'm not American who tend to hold the military I'm a much higher regard, and that's not to take away the respect felt for those that serve/ed). Nobody is taking anything away, it's an unlimited use code. They're going to create promos this time of year no matter what, whether it be that, the discord code, or Black Friday it just feels like they're stumbling along trying to push sales and they know any code is going to be shared. If they wanted to they could do it right, but they did the thing knowing what would happen.

As I've said, they're a record company with high markups whose goal is to sell those records. Don't make me try and feel bad about it because they're using a day to push sales.

Pretty sure they can have the complete list of active VMP Discord users and create a discount code for them that would only be available if used with the proper account. Though, it's easier to have a unique code everybody can use, easy to find and then blame non veterans or non Discord users for not respecting the rules.

They want to sell the biggest number of stuff before year end, they see many shops are already offering Black Friday discounts, they know that the more potential buyers spend in other shops the less they'll buy on VMPs. So they give a couple of "private" discount codes and that's it.

I don't know why they keep acting like it's a bad thing to sell, every company wants to make money. Maybe just don't use a certain group of people to hide behind them?

Been awhile can't remember...

If I order something in stock with a preorder, do they ship separately or not until the preorder is ready?

You have to pay extra to ship them separately, or else they will only go out when the pre-order comes in stock.

This code is reusable so your best bet is to make an order just for the in stock stuff and then another for your pre-order. That’s what I did with the Nilsson preorders.

So I’ve been enjoying Waylon and am curious about the box set, I have the Waylon exclusive that came out a while back but how is the collection of albums in the anthology? Wonder how easy some of these are to find in the wild
It’s a great collection of some of his most iconic albums. This was his best period. I had most of this or it would have been something I wanted.

If you need to create a code to make people feel better about not using a similar code, then maybe the goal was just for everyone to use the goddamn code all along.

Do you think it’s just a rouse to clear out a load of ill thought out Barbie box sets?

As it is I have my view on last week and made it at the time. I think throwing this one in the mix is more or less accepting a free for all on VMPs part so everyone may as well join the party

I think they know that certain things like anthologies are inconceivable for a lot of people without a heavy discount.

Yeah, I'm glad I fucked up on the initial order - I just canceled it outright and reordered in two so I don't have to wait for Honky Tonk Angels in order to get my Busta!

The discord has 3,000 members. They aren’t gonna match emails to usernames. Even then, people’s VMP emails would have to match the email they signed up with to discord. I get why no company would go that route.

The people on here, discord and Reddit probably make up a tiny portion of their subscriber base. They know the code will get out and I’m sure they don’t mind moving product while making a nice gesture to people.
