Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

So my last two ROTM shipments were actually opened and then resealed in transit, no issues with the discs or anything missing but the seal was most definitely sliced open and then haphazardly taped shut. Any other Canadians have this happen recently? I'm guessing it's customs but not really sure, only two times it's happened in the entire time I've been a member.
Happened to me with a VMP shipment, 2022 I think. Yellow tape sliced and new tape over top. Years ago they used to put a sticker on the parcel to say that it had been “opened by CBS”

Not VMP, but I had a record for a Christmas gift definitely opened and very much haphazardly taped shut about a week ago. I assumed customs is definitely fucking around with it.

What's actually crazy about it, is that it was a discogs order, which usually get sent through with zero customs - but this one had a price tag on it, and I think customs saw this, and then decided that they needed a cut so slapped a $20 customs fee on it.

My conclusion is they're now trying to check invoices/price tags and then ramming you with customs, and because VMP orders do not come with any invoice or price, there's nothing they can do about it.
Yeah I kinda figured it was something of the sort. Two in a row makes me wonder if there's gunna be a reckoning coming in terms of duties...

Listen I’m really sorry about including those teeth in the last PIF I sent you and the note taunting the RCMP. If it makes you feel better they weren’t my teeth.

100%.

They've been a bit crazy on the duties more so I found over the past year (which is why I mostly stopped ordering from the US), and with the holiday season they're planning on making bank.

I've definitely noticed an uptick as well. I even had the fuckers ding me for duties on something declared over $100 in value but marked as a gift because I guess they didn't believe it was a gift (it was!) - they've got paperwork and a whole process to get it back, but ADHD and a busy family/toddler life led to me just eating shit on the extra $18.

For those who are perhaps a bit lost by these Canadian references:
Doug Ford is the premier of Ontario.
He is the brother of Rob Ford, you may know him as the crack smoking mayor of international fame.
He was a noted hash dealer.

People in Toronto warned he would be bad.
He was worse.

His first act was to scrap our functional license plates with ones that you absolutely could not see at night, for no earthly reason. That was scrapped shortly after.

His second act was to create labels on gas pumps complaining about carbon taxes from the federal government. They peeled off in no time, despite him ACTUALLY running a label company.

He was given a hefty sum of federal money for covid relief which mysteriously disappeared. That kind of went away mysteriously.

Further down the line, he sold off our protected land to housing developers. It turned out all those developers attended his daughter's wedding, which I'm positive was simply a happy accident. He's now currently under investigation by the RCMP.

He also decided to sell off prime water front real estate to build a spa on a 99 year lease, which absolutely nobody asked for. And built a subway line, that nobody asked for to service said spa.

Lately, his education minister has decided to add anti-communism lessons to our student's curriculum, because apparently it's still the cold war, and we must all be weary of such things.

A disaster would be a gross understatement.
