Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

I don't think they're alienating most of their customers. They have alienated the people who are on this forum and a few others but as has been pointed out many times we are a small portion of their customers. Some other folks just read the posts here so you can tack-on a few percentages, but I think they probbaly more than make-up for it with new customers they bring in via their advertising and pretty colored records.

To think they will treat those new customers any better is being overly optimistic, and they will be just as angry as we are if they face similar situations.

i quite like that skull snaps record, so im tempted but probably go for the mr. bongo versions.
The colours are looking good, but all three are 18 pounds from mr. boongo. 32$ seems like quite a premium for the colour
Also, the color of the Skull Snaps LP looks similar enough to the Weyes Blood record that there's a good chance it won't ship until three months later to half the people who ordered it... although you might be able to grab a copy on eBay earlier for $200 being sold by someone who ended up with a copy before VMP loyalists...

Just sayin'

;)

All of these are available from Mr. Bongo. for $23, $25, and $21 respectively. They may be cheaper if you shop on amazon. Are these really worth $10 More per record for the colored vinyl? They look nice but given VMP's issues with pressings and the company's new return approaches (amongst many other things) it seems like a steep premium to pay to me.

VMP has had so many faults lately, I hesitate to defend anything about them, but this doesn't actually look to be too much of an upsell. I'm assuming shipping for all 3 from Mr. Bongo would be at least $5? That brings the total $74. The bundle from VMP is $90 with free shipping. That comes out to about $5 more per record for a color version. Seems about the industry standard to me.

OK but it's still an upsell and you have to spend $74 by your math to make it feel like not that bad of an upsell.

It is...but doesn't RT and everyone charge more for their special color editions over the standard black versions? But, you are right, I'm talking about someone wanting to buy all three. If you only want 1 then I'm sure there's better options.

Same. Gave it 49 months. Canceled when they announced the end of the old forum, and finally followed up this morning with CS to cancel my remaining pre-orders and ask for a refund on the remaining 11 months of my annual sub.
Did you buy your annual sub with store credit? Mine was and I was under the impression that they wouldn't refund in that situation and that's keeping me from cancelling.

well, just sent my cancellation email...let's see what they say as I had two months on my account and a record pre-ordered that I requested all be refunded. I was half unsure about sending it today as I was curious what this month's records will be and if I should just grab some stuff over the next two months and then just not re-up when my quarterly ran out, but ultimately just decided to just do it and get it over with now if possible.

No. I never bought any store credit, never received any referral credits, and never accepted any credit when I had issues with store purchases. In fact, I don't think I was ever even offered any. It was always just an automatic refund, which IMO is the only acceptable outcome anyway if I didn't receive something I paid for.

That said, I believe at least one person got a refund worked out after canceling a sub purchased with credit. Can you confirm, @Kris?
No, I did not get a refund. At the time, it seemed like a good idea, because I got 120% credit for each dollar, but you're stuck with the store credit. I'm riding out the rest of my sub because it is a pretty big chunk of change to just leave on my VMP account in limbo.

I decided to post about my Morby experience on that thread. thanks for sharing!

You know what occurred to me, and might have already been something you thought of? I'd ask WHY the other members like @Enoch who got replacements were requesting them. If it's for different reasons than the reason you were asking, then my guess would be that they are fully aware of the defect, so they can't really send you a replacement, because there's a good chance that you're going to have the exact same problem again. If that's the case, they're going to have to make a wide acknowledgment of another widespread issue. If the request was for more of an anomaly, which the defect clearly isn't, but should have been, then they don't have to address that problem on a mass level and can just try and send them a new copy.

Agreed! It seems like they did a numbers crunch and realized they lost alot of money replacing everything in the past. So now, they change the policy, shut down the forum, they raise all the prices by 6 bucks or more to cover shipping costs associated with the switch to USPS, their replacements deficit, and the cost to "fix the old forum". Make the customers pay in a sneaky way. Smh

The sad part is that, by cutting costs and not fixing the underlying issue with QC and shipping, they lost more money in the long run from both replacements and people jumping ship. To be honest, it's really fucking sad, but I'm glad this community still exists out of all of that rubble.

You might be right. They seemingly keep passing the burden of getting their shit together on to their customers. That being said most people will keep paying them so I doubt they have anything to worry about financially and no real motivation to change their behavior.

To a point

Oh, dang. Sorry, I thought I had seen some exchange between you & @Lee Newman that referenced it getting worked out. I guess I can see their rationale, but it still sucks to be stuck with it if you don't want it anymore.
It is worked out. It was originally cancelled with no credits on my account at all but that was a CS newbie mistake. I'm at peace with it, lol.

same problem and I even mentioned it is probably a widespread issue since several people have the exact same scratch when I emailed in

Does anyone remember that member who came on the last forum singing their praises and I told him to get back to me in 6 months? His reponse was that he hated to disappoint me, but his attitude doesn't change. By the time I became aware of the 48hr notice thread, he'd already tore into them a half dozen times in the first few pages, and he came at them HARD. It was only about 2 weeks after our exchange, so I quoted his old post and he never commented again. If you're here, I wasn't against you, guy. I was just welcoming you to the real club. You simply can't know what you don't know. Welcome to the club.

I believe @Enoch requested a replacement for the same issue I had. I think @hlaveta requested a replacement due to warped records.

at this point I would have to think they are aware that there was an issue with the record, I mean if I am and they're not then that's simply another problem with VMP. that's really the thing that made me finally want to quit, the fact that they decided to toss credits at me when I wanted acknowledgement and resolution for a bigger problem just seemed like they're trying to avoid the fact that they do have a problem on their hands that's bigger than my personal frustration.

Yea, I got no disagreement with any of that. And I'm not defending VMP as a company here. But pricing wise, I just think it's in line with people who wanted the color version of IGOR.
If IGOR is damaged I'm getting a replacement and/or refund, though

I think this is their plan. Get out before the roof caves in completely

That should probably be everyone's plan
