Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

The problem I'm dealing with right now is 2 months back I couldn't switch my tracks because Nat glitched and it didn't let me drop it prior to swaps closing, so I got an extra album I didn't want. So I swapped Loretta to Books just in case CS didn't get back to me in time so I'd at least get something I kinda wanted. When they didn't get back in time I told them I shouldn't have to pay for the extra track since I repeatedly tried to drop it and told them before swaps closed, so they credited me back the 23 bucks. Well of course side 2 of Books is covered in some sort of splatter that creates massive amounts of pops all over the side. So now I have to ask for a replacement for a album I got credited for already. But I'm still gunna because what the fuck? I mean with all this I still think it should be a clean pressing... Maybe I'm wrong, or maybe I'm just so tired of just how much bad vinyl they ship out... I mean look at this:

it's all their fault

I think Storf mentioned there's one exclusive tie-in to Essentials? Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

That's what I recall as well. Something about getting the files or tapes?
If they did an exclusive of It's Never Been Like That I'd be more inclined to grab that than a Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix RotM.

when was your email sent? I will tell you this, they wasted no time to tell me that they were sold out and couldn't send me one, I feel like I get that reply in less than 10 mins

I tried to snag you a copy on reddit and the seller confirmed that it had the same defect.

That sucks.

It looks as if somebody really hated that album, or somebody really loved that record

Man... I'm just starting to catch up on all of this bullshit. My favorite (not really) part of the new return policy is this bit

Some of these things are normal and are not considered to be damaged. If you are ever unsure, please email us and we’ll help determine what’s normal and what’s not.

They'll let us know? "Don't worry. That part is supposed to be fucked up. Glad we could let you know whether or not you were satisfied. Move along, nothing to see here.

I have one coming from Discogs, it should show up today or tomorrow, so we'll see if that one has the same defect or not. I really don't know why I ordered another one at this point, the seller states that they accept returns for defects but it really seems like I am taking another unnecessary risk at this point.

that said, thanks for looking out! I really appreciate it!

To me the most humorous part is that they shut down the forum because they didn't want to deal with it and they were hoping to hide these issues. Only now the issues live publicly and in an area where they have no ability to monitor or respond.
I'm sure they are watching this forum closely, and initially thought "this is great, no problems here," but the next time they have a Demon Days situation (which will happen again) I fully expect them to have a real SEO issue on their hands for a few years.

Their loss for moving backwards in modern times I guess.

I mean... I called this in the thread when they were shutting down the forum. They used to control that platform and most of us -- and the lion share of our criticisms -- spent a lot of time contained in there. Now, the frustrations have spread across multiple platforms. I'm assuming you've noticed the people who weren't VMP members, but have found this forum strictly based on the word spreading to other forums that they did frequent.

There have been things that upset me and I've considered doing posts of in the VMP Reddit sub, but have thought better of. The new Damaged + Return policy, however, is something that people should be made aware of. Because of that, I simply posted the link on there without adding any viewpoints or additional statements of my own -- just the link. If it's on their site, it shouldn't be hidden and people should know about it. The responses are starting to come in and, as you might guess, they are less than enthusiastic about the changes. It's early yet, and there are only 4, so far, so... who knows? I'm sure that at least one hardcore defender with rush to their side.

I'll check back on this meltdown later today, but it will be interesting to see how this evolves, while it's being introduced to most people over there on the very same day as this month's ROTMs

I decided to post about my Morby experience on that thread. thanks for sharing!

All of these are available from Mr. Bongo. for $23, $25, and $21 respectively. They may be cheaper if you shop on amazon. Are these really worth $10 More per record for the colored vinyl? They look nice but given VMP's issues with pressings and the company's new return approaches (amongst many other things) it seems like a steep premium to pay to me.
$10 more for a single LP???

Agreed! It seems like they did a numbers crunch and realized they lost alot of money replacing everything in the past. So now, they change the policy, shut down the forum, they raise all the prices by 6 bucks or more to cover shipping costs associated with the switch to USPS, their replacements deficit, and the cost to "fix the old forum". Make the customers pay in a sneaky way. Smh

I don't think they're alienating most of their customers. They have alienated the people who are on this forum and a few others but as has been pointed out many times we are a small portion of their customers. Some other folks just read the posts here so you can tack-on a few percentages, but I think they probbaly more than make-up for it with new customers they bring in via their advertising and pretty colored records.

We are the ones currently most aware but if the behavior continues this is the one place where things do trickle down
