Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

I can believe nearly anything imaginable is a real service these days however I can't believe an ostensibly audiophile music company would partner with a service that is designed around the idea that your music is to be collected solely for its monetary value and that it should never actually be listened to in order to retain that. It's fucking gross.
It’s brilliant from VMP when you think about it though. Actively encourage people not to play the records, customers will never realise the shitty pressing quality, no replacement copies needed.

Matt’s a bonafide evil genius

I mean you sure as hell aren’t gonna play precious records on that Crosley or Victrola!!!

If I type Mono into my collection on cogs, I get 207 hits (sounds low) but while I do have an insane amount of Beatles records considering they only released 13 albums, they certainly aren’t all Beatles records.

I think losing access to the interscope archives really hurt them more than they will admit publicly
How much Interscope stuff did they do? I’m unaware.

I think all these labels creating their own series and subscriptions has hurt them. Only
Really rhino and craft out of the big labels will license to them. They are thing to branch out now to get labels like Warp and Nonesuch as releases. There’s nothing proprietary about VMP and labels kinda have them over the barrel in negotiations because they know VMP needs titles and they need them approved to hit monthly deadlines

Nonesuch isn’t really branching out, just a subsidiary of Warner like Rhino.

True. I just mean they are trying to license from labels or subsidiaries that are less well known because many heavy hitters are being done by those labels now. It's kinda interesting that VMP supposedly has been trying to get Southern Nights by Allen Toussaint done for a year or two now and Rhino just decided to do their own AAA cut of it. Feels like this is just gonna happen more and more.
