I’m talking a bit more about all the personal attacks on Storf and other employees which is why him and Pauly left Reddit largely. Like people telling Storf to kill himself…

The company definitely deserves a lot of flak for how they handled a lot of stuff. I get why the subreddit is the way it is now. I’ve left most of Reddit in general now

i 100% get why storf is the way he is about internet trolls and critics. he's a dude doing a job and people are making fat jokes and telling him to kill himself? nah, fuck that. he had a health issue and his mom is literally dying hundreds of miles away and every time he logs in to discord its "why do you guys suck, and you personally and in particular are at fault", i would also be of a "fuck you guys" inclination as well. that he hasn't told people exactly how to fuck themselves in detail and at length is a testament to his patience.

I'm also critical of how they've handled (or failed to handle) a lot of issues, but none that's even remotely ok

I am surprised if there are those who ordered Fela and the Dead and still haven't asked for refunds.
With 25 titles still outstanding, I am guessing there's a cash flow issue trying to get all of that pressed and in hand.

Personally, I think he does himself a disservice by not telling the people who personally attack him to go fuck themselves while offering suggestions of how.

Patience with the people who blame him for all of VMP's stupidity, sure; and I'd even say he's a better man than me for it. But fat jokes and people telling him to kill himself... those people are undeserving of patience.

I was told my refund was approved within a half hour of my request. But definitely, unless you got a sweetheart deal or used credit, riding with them is risky!

Good call. Their price increases and ongoing delivery delays (for monthly subs and the 2024 items on their tracking list) are leading to more cancellation talk in various online forums, discouraging sub renewals, and spooking potential new US subscribers. Just want to encourage anyone who has a lot of $ tied up to be careful.

Just to add PayPal buyer protection I think expires after 6 months and when you combine the long pre-orders times with additional delays some of these purchases might be pushing beyond those terms. Buyer protection on credit cards varies but it’s worth looking into if it’s been a while.

.yeah I just assume that my amex platinum will handle it if need be. But my hot take is that vmp will be fine/still around this time next year.

It’s a possibility.

I think they are closer to dying than turning things around and that there is a tipping point that they are either inching towards or might have already passed and once it gets beyond that point there is no putting the genie back into the bottle. With most businesses, when the end comes; it catches people off guard initially but then when they think back on it the warning signs were obvious and everywhere.

I understand hoping that they pull through but it’s fairly obvious that things are not good for VMP right now.

Having used PayPal buyer protection for something that was past the expiration date (and I think you are right about six months), you can still do it, it just becomes a completely manual process that you have to keep up with. It was a ginormous pain in the ass, but the vendor eventually sent me the items instead of continuing to be assholes about the situation.

(This was whatever merch company NIN was using with the first round of definitive editions. They mailed my shit from England in a mailer that they built incorrectly and didn’t seal. One of the three records somehow managed to get here, but the other two were lost.)

I’m shocked that he was threatened and taunted in this way. How terribly sad.
