Just saw on reddit that Storf posted on his Insta that his role has been eliminated at VMP. Looks like the the end is nigh.
 
Well, It seems like the end is nigh.

A lot of you hang out in other threads on the N&G forum as well but I am sure there are few that VMP is their main reason for visiting and I just hope you all give the rest of the forum a go before bailing.

Needles & Grooves is a pretty fun community of record lovers. Chances are you will find some entertaining stuff if you poke around a bit.

Pretty quick. IIRC, we had less than a week to put together our contingency plan. And during that time, there was at least 1, maybe 2 new "forums" that were propped up and people were lobbying others to join their new forum. It was very weird, but a group of individuals here with more knowledge than me, told everyone to hold off and that a better iteration was coming. After that, I'd say less than a week later, this was born in almost the fully matured site that you see today.

Yeah it was manic, no one knew anyone's emails or contact info so there was a mad 48 hr scramble to collect everyone's email so that they would know where to even find the new site. To their credit VMP did put a redirect notice on the shuttered forum that sent people here for a while if I recall...

And then a mad scramble to raise funds to start this place. All of this was done in under 48 hours I believe...

Yep, forgot about VMP rerouting traffic here, that was the least they could do.

And the old forum was shut down on May 16, and we all show signing up here on May 15. So the announcement was likely just a few days prior, thus us asking for more time. Followed by Matt's infamous response.

Perfect timing.

Boggles my mind and makes me so happy that it was pulled off the way it was. I came around a bit before the site's second anniversary and I still love hearing about how it all pulled together. And I'm grateful to all involved. It was definitely because of VMP that I found this place but I don't remember the specifics of whether it was through a mention on their site or somebody on Reddit.

It was a wild time and a mad scramble but we are all better here now for sure
