Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

For the same price (free shipping in the US) you can get the 2-LP 10th anniversary edition from Merge which includes the Get Nice! EP. I don't spin the EP much, but the remastered LP is one of the best-sounding records I own. Can't tell if VMP version is the same remaster.

Yeah, I get why VMP picked it, but really this one & Gimme Fiction are the 2 in the catalog that didn't need another reissue. Since Newbury already did Girls Can Tell last year, why not Kill The Moonlight?

I'm totally behind the Caribou & Wild Flag selections, though incredibly surprised they didn't pick Our Love. I'm still shocked this many years later WF didn't get more hype, with this the first-ever repress.

Speaking above of Newbury, it's worth noting they just did a few Sugar & Bob Mould represses and only charged $25 for a single LP, $32 for a 2xLP. For a record like Silver Age, it was $5 more than it would cost to buy the black version from Merge, not incredibly high but understandable for a limited variant.

I'm generally accepting of VMP charging more for a limited pressing, especially when considering licensing fees from major labels, but 2 things are wrong here - a) those numbers have increased dramatically in the last 2 years beyond anyone else's increases & also haven't varied a lot title to title (way too many $29 for a single LP for it to be a coincidence), which you'd actually expect if it was solely due to licensing fees, and b) we now have a straight apples-to-apples comparison with the same label (who is good about keeping their own prices low, plus free US shipping) and some Newbury variants. There's really no excuse for VMP to be charging more than Newbury. It almost feels as if even though shipping is built into memberships, and non-members pay for shipping, they're still charging a bit more on top to cover that. It's either that or straight price-gouging for a rarity.
