Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Not at all, I’ve outright known that you’re extremely gullible for at least a year...
I might be, but I feel like me being gullible and me easily trusting people has benefitted me, especially when I was travelling a lot! 😚💁‍♂️

But then, it is true that Lee could have done that! Lee Newman was the top ranked/had the most comments on the VMP forum. Maybe he really liked his reputation on the forum and maybe he got so mad that VMP took that away from him........so he really wanted revenge on them 🤷‍♂️👹

I think you might have over thought that just a little bit...

Sleep with one eye open @Joe Mac , you have stolen @Lee Newman ’s top comment crown. A hollow victory i’m sure as you would have loved the chance to properly overtake him on his own battleground. The anger at losing his position has sent @Lee Newman into a record licking/bowl making rage. You might awake to see a copy of Demon Days sculpted into a bowl with a note attached to say ‘You’re Next’

@Lee Newman - Are you going to re-subscribe/re-join VMP to get the Aretha Franklin ROTM?!? Also, would you join back to get that Queens of The Stone Age ROTM?

Also, that Art Blakey and The Isley Brothers Classics ROTM’s are pure 🔥🔥🔥

Aretha Franklin - $30 on Discogs
Songs For the Deaf - QOTSA are also re-releasing it
Art Barkley - Sold out, readily available on Discogs though
Isley Brothers - the VMP version is cheaper on Discogs

I thought about resubscribing, but I wasn't feeling well at the time.

So, it looks like my October package has already shipped (TOTS!) and, interestingly, it includes another copy of Stars' "Set Yourself on Fire"...which will be my third (gotta go post some PIFs!). I remember someone saying that VMP was talking about having another pressing, without the skip in Calendar Girl, but didn't get any confirmation. I suppose that that's what this is though...anyone else getting one?
Glad I read your post or I would have been so confused!! I rejoined for one month, cause I gotta have this Flaming Lips, but then they toss in another Stars copy in nothing but an inner sleeve. I won’t complain, but the one with the skip has a lot more color burst in the vinyl, guess I’ll ask @Lee Newman to teach me how to make a bowl out of the other one.😄

The easiest way is to send it to @Mather

True, I see your points and I think it’s good you are looking at it all this way! This is how I see it!

Aretha Franklin - Will be an AAA pressing (will sound amazing like all the very recent Classics ROTM’s) and I’m sure the colour variant will look great! I don’t think there will be any better version out there after this one gets released! And this album is 🔥🌻🌈🥇🎯💎🌹

For the add-ons at $23, you can pick up Isley Brothers and grab the other Classics ROTM at the time which will be a Motown exclusive for also $23!

Songs For The Deaf colour variant looks so good! And how much is Art Blakey on Discogs? If you use it as an add-on for $23, no way could you get it cheaper on Discogs!

And plus, you live in Australia.....remember that! Cheapest copy of the VMP version of Go For Your Guns is AUD$34 + international shipping!!! So it ain’t cheaper for you! 🙅‍♂️😜

But then, if you don’t want to spend too much money at the moment, then don’t do it! Just my perspective! ☺️

Yeah, good points compatriot and I completely agree mate. It's the VMP FOMO factor that bothers me (we're all to blame), i.e. all those exclusives we buy, that we or our collection don't actually need because of FOMO. e.g by the time that Aretha drops into your lap, you're going to give VMP a lot more money than the price of the above mentioned albums, on exclusives that you've been FOMO'd into.

A secondhand Aretha 'as it should be', happy to avoid Isley Brothers like most have, I can't see the colour of vinyl when I'm sitting in my reclining chair sipping rum and listening to tunes, so a traditional black copy of Songs For the Deaf will be just fine and with all the money I've saved by not being a VMP member, I can afford a handful of overpriced mint copies of Art from Discogs and still have change to buy more rum 🤔

I get your point though...🙃 ;)

But because you live in Australia, a black/standard copy of Songs For The Deaf won’t be necessarily cheaper than the VMP exclusive of Songs For The Deaf! 💡

Because of you living in Australia, I hope the Songs For The Deaf standard version is more expensive than the VMP exclusive version, so then you re-subscribe 🙃

But have you not been spending much money on vinyl at all? If that’s the case, then I understand and also.....maybe you just haven’t been liking the exclusives VMP have been dropping! 🤷‍♂️

But, our amazing friend @Joe Mac has re-joined VMP because even he knows that they are dropping 10/10 ROTM’s in the last few months! 💯

Also, we know some Fiona Apple will be coming soon, and a Pitchfork x VMP exclusive collaboration will be coming very soon too! 🙇‍♂️

Now seems like the best time to join VMP! 🥳

And stop being old and traditional, proclaiming that a second hand copy of Aretha Franklin is the best! For me, high quality sound is the best, but I also like good-looking things, so you know...💁‍♂️😘

I only want you to join VMP for another 3 months for the November ROTM because I really like you and I know November 2019, December 2019, and January 2020 are going to be too hot to handle! 🔥🔥🔥

But if you are saving money and don’t want to actually spend money on vinyl, then fair enough!

Oh Nathan, you’re so deep in their FOMO culture that you don’t even realise how ridiculous that all is. They’re just a shop and they have a couple of things I want to buy. I’m not entranced by the magnificence of three albums in a row that I like. They had 6 in a row I didn’t. The likelihood is that after December I’ll be gone until they release something else I really want. The don’t excite me as a company at all any more.

But I’ve never been a FOMO person! I just really love VMP! They are the best! ♥😅🎯

mmmmm I think I might just be a little too in love with VMP! 🙈🙊🙉🐒

But then it really is my taste! Like I also got the Sandstone colour variant of Brittany Howard’s “Jaime” instead of the VMP exclusive. I think that Sandstone colour variant looks way better than the VMP colour variant. And the Sandstone version was 180g! 💎

I respect that they don’t excite you as a company. I understand.....and it seems like so many people here that used to be subscribed to VMP feel the same way. But for me, VMP is the only vinyl company that excites me, along with Blue Note! But VMP excites me the most! I love their shop and I know they have quality control issues, but at least they look after you really well! ☺

I’m happy that you re-joined VMP for now and I’m sure you are really happy to be back too! 🥂

This month was announced reissues of Climate Of Hunter, Fleetwood Mac’s 75 album, Mark Hollis’ solo album, all of which i’ve been keeping an eye out. With the death of the old forum many users worked out that they could get by without joining very well. Glad it works for you @NathanRicaud and I hope the guys who work there keep doing well but the FOMO isn’t the same now, resulting in many albums lying around much longer. I think maybe there has been a move by CS to reconnect to its earlier vision, which is very good. I don’t treat amazon like it’s a bunch of my pals in a gang with me who I know the CS reps by name so I don’t get annoyed with them when there are delays and whatnot. I think the relationship many people like @Joe Mac has evolved to become like that. They’ll not be getting as pissed by a delay but they won’t be buying a box of 20 albums any more to support the company.

Completely although I was never fully on board with the gotta catch the all mentality even back then, there always seems something a little bit, tragic seems a little harsh but still. 8 was my biggest box once and was generally 3 or 4, i more got excitement and FOMO from the ROTM process and connected exclusives.

I did used to like them and wish them well and recommend them back then. Now I don’t, i don’t wish them ill but if they were to close tomorrow it’d be more akin to my local supermarket closing than a beloved provider. I’d be sad for the human story of the employees but I’d just go to the next shop down the road...
