Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

A VMP employee said that they hope to implement skips in the future as soon as the dust settles. Since this new site allows them to easily do that.
I thought the rationale behind eliminating one month subs was that people dipping in and out made it impossible for them to accurately project pressing quantities. Wouldn't allowing people to skip a month here and there create the same problem?

I just peaked back in the store, and several past Essential ROTM picks... looks like their new FOMO based pricing is $40 for any 2LP and $34 for any single LP. That's just insane.

I'm kind of tempted to go back and review my 2018 add on expenses vs my 2019 add ons. Just to see how much I have been actually speaking with my wallet. I obviously need to be speaking with it even more often.

Thats been the past AoTM pricing now for a very long time. Im pretty sure they put it up to that whilst the old place was still up and running because I remember storf trying to justify with some incoherent bullshit or other.

I don’t know, I would assume so! 🤷🏽‍♂️
Just stating what I read lol

I guess now it's more knowing they have a larger guaranteed amount of money coming (3 mos min) as opposed to only one month guaranteed.

Companies should learn that when prices are this high people actually spend less. The ‘Black Friday Sale’ where records (which they couldn’t sell a year ago) are sold for their original price fools nobody. 30+ dollars needs to be some unicorn level wonderment to entice me.

Agree with you there. The main track used to be worth it because it included the international shipping for everything and you got a couple of extra records at $23 and the exclusives were generally max $25. Now it’s getting less enticing by the day...

Huh, guess I didn't notice. I remember them going up, but I didn't remember $40. That really is full on MoFi/AP pricing. They've lost it.

Don't get me wrong, there are a few I think are still worth that price. But that certainly shouldn't be the standard in my opinion. Which doesn't matter anyway.

well i take it back on not repressing things on black vinyl...

Now-Again said all along they’d be doing another pressing of it down the road.

Storf’s bullshit excuse, if I remember correctly, was that it was to protect the value of your membership by rewarding staying in every month by giving it added value, which is preposterous. I think the actual reason is to protect a level of stock for swaptions and as an idiot tax. It does look pretty shabby though!

The last records I bought were all under £15. 3LP Egypt Station by McCartney, In Time by R.E.M., Sons Of Kemet album and Jerry Lee Lewis at the Star Club. As an internet store surely you should realise people will check prices online. It’s why that Angel Olsen is still there despite being a great album.

Yeah I only have their pressing of Angel Olsen is because they let me swap it so it was $23, which was less than the clear one was going for in my local. I honestly don’t think they care, they have a group that are blindly loyal and sell enough of most pressings to get away with it.
