The banning post. I was a few pages behind. But a general "what the hell?" seems appropriate for VMP these days. What'd you comment? just curious
For the record, removing the pizza post was the only thing I did on the subreddit today - I didn't have a hand in any more comment removals, bans, etc.
I meant on reddit, what'd you say that he temp banned you forThe banning post. I was a few pages behind. But a general "what the hell?" seems appropriate for VMP these days.
He participated in that interview with Cam, setting up his Experience Unlimited lie by claiming that he told him about it a year or two prior.
I think his question was what got him banned? The banning post. I was a few pages behind. But a general "what the hell?" seems appropriate for VMP these days.
Yeah I mean that's definitely a fair point, and it's something I've considered too (and am still considering - the megathread is not the end-all be-all from now till the end of time, I and/or the other mods could revise our stance on it). But at the end of the day, /r/vinylmeplease is a relatively small subreddit - while the growth has been remarkable, and we do get 600k+ pageviews a month, we pale in comparison to even decently popular subreddits. If I make a post on /r/indieheads, it's not getting to the front page unless it garners a fair amount of upvotes, because hundreds of new posts are made daily and the front page is only 25 posts long. The VMP subreddit sometimes has ten to twenty new threads a day. Sometimes we go days without a new thread. So it goes. With smaller subreddits it's harder for the "good content rises to the top" functionality to work as well, because just about anything can rise to the top if it's been a few days since a post has been made. Which is why I think modding in those early stages is necessary. But again, you raise a fair point, and if the sub was a few magnitudes bigger, it'd probably run much closer to your suggestion
I'm convinced the wrong guy got banned!@tonythegamer Some dude was tagging the storfer in every post, so I commented that storf couldn’t help and that all he did was show up, tell people that it wasn’t his department, and roll out.
Very meaty pizza? What the hell?
So did the VMP brass eat 40 Pizzas in 30 days? Was that the metaphor?
@TimmahTao got banned for posting a picture of a guy holding a pizza?
@chrb98And eventually someone is going to write an article about VMP's disfunction. And at that point it is going to be near impossible to ever recover the goodwill of the sub and userbase or VMP.
@TimmahTao got banned for posting a picture of a guy holding a pizza?
Can someone find the post, I'm having trouble finding itWhat lie? I didn't hear about this one.
Maybe banning Storf from the sub would be helpful? His presence is a lightning rod for anyone who feels wronged by VMP. Not only that, but the fact that VMP has an actual presence with an employee at his level on the sub every single day probably is not helpful for the sub in general, mostly because it makes that the place where people will angrily react instead of just emailing or going to one of the VMP official social media accounts.@chrb98
Here is a super hot take question (and let me preface by saying I don't think you are trying to suppress negativity), and I know you are trying to make a space without VMP control- but what about flexing and doing the opposite? What if you hit up storf privately and made clear that a large portion of the subreddit is outraged, that it is growing, and is being fueled by their continued lack of attention?
What if you told VMP that your sub is suffering for their inaction and business practices, and maybe if they don't start addressing it that maybe mods post about the un-cooperation and VMP may have to rely on fb and twitter to maintain customer positivity?
Because hey let's be honest. Eventually this shitshow is going to hit r/subredditdrama. And eventually someone is going to write an article about VMP's disfunction. And at that point it is going to be near impossible to ever recover the goodwill of the sub and userbase for VMP.
One of the members on the old forum suggested Experience Unlimited to Cam, he said he'd check it out. Then, months later, they do it and he says in the interview that he discovered the album because he thought the cover was cool while late-night browsing on Discogs. He was called out, said "sorry, he forgot" but they left the interview up with that lie in it. **edit:and deleted the record of the conversation with the forum. What lie? I didn't hear about this one.
2. Those fucking fucks have actually gotten worse? Why are there people still sending them money.
