Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Pauly is the only one I feel even a little bad for or have any respect for at all

I agree. Pauly is a really good guy. It’s a shame for him that he has to spend another Christmas dealing with this shit. The management of VMP seem to have more disdain for their CS staff than they did for the old forumers, throwing them to the wolves and leaving them without proper support or means of dealing with issues. Pauly is more than welcome to come over here as a music fan any time.

Is it your expectation that each mod just does there own thing and doesn't interact with other mods?
We're all pretty much on the same page when it comes to most things actually - it's INCREDIBLY rare that we disagree with another's mod actions. But for the record, we do have a private chat that's (mostly) dedicated to discussing the subreddit, and every now and then someone will ask our opinions on what to do about a certain post, or will ask for clarification about certain rules. So it's not like EVERY mod action is debated upon by all four mods, but that's mainly because over the past few months we've come to a pretty decent consensus on what we want the sub to be like and what's worthy of a ban, a warning, a removal, etc. Also for the record, I'm not gonna be a mod for much longer due to increasing real life obligations (shhh I haven't told reddit yet), so I've told the other guys that they basically have the right to do what they want or reverse decisions I've made, since they'll be the ones mainly holding the ropes once I'm gone by the end of the year

I don't plan on canceling mine because it's a grandfathered price and worst case I can file a chargeback with amex
Jackpot. I'm more forgiving of titles I pay under $25 dollars for.

Just a quick update that I still have no tracking information or a package for my November shipping. I'm just going to re-read my generic boiler plate email response I got back since that's all I can really expect anymore.
This is me too. Order happened before site merge. Also Black Friday sale purchase is MIA with no tracking. Support is overwhelmed or is continuing to ignore me. Just want my money back at this point.
I think it's time we look into a cool chargeback gif.

For the record, removing the pizza post was the only thing I did on the subreddit today - I didn't have a hand in any more comment removals, bans, etc. But as far as the user who was temp banned, he had a history of personal attacks on Storf and had been warned before by other mods about his behavior. I can't justify or speak for other mod's actions because that's just not my place (I wouldn't expect them to justify or speak for my actions either) so I don't really have much to say on that subject specifically.
Yeah, nope. Just checked my message history. That email was my first and only contact with any of the mods.

PERSONALLY, I think the benefit of reddit is that outside of true targeted harassment or doxxing, it needs no mods. What people want to see will be upvoted and visible, what they don’t want to see will be downvoted. If people are tired of the complaints or hilarious pizza comparisons, they can downvote to lessen the visibility. Reddit by design is there to not need a “megathread”. I know I’m not a mod, but I say let it all go, all the good and all the bad, it’ll work itself out. VMP doesn’t need a government bailout, be there to monitor the harassment and that’s about it.
Yeah I mean that's definitely a fair point, and it's something I've considered too (and am still considering - the megathread is not the end-all be-all from now till the end of time, I and/or the other mods could revise our stance on it). But at the end of the day, /r/vinylmeplease is a relatively small subreddit - while the growth has been remarkable, and we do get 600k+ pageviews a month, we pale in comparison to even decently popular subreddits. If I make a post on /r/indieheads, it's not getting to the front page unless it garners a fair amount of upvotes, because hundreds of new posts are made daily and the front page is only 25 posts long. The VMP subreddit sometimes has ten to twenty new threads a day. Sometimes we go days without a new thread. So it goes. With smaller subreddits it's harder for the "good content rises to the top" functionality to work as well, because just about anything can rise to the top if it's been a few days since a post has been made. Which is why I think modding in those early stages is necessary. But again, you raise a fair point, and if the sub was a few magnitudes bigger, it'd probably run much closer to your suggestion
