Omg, that does look pretty commercial
But I thought straight away that this exclusive would go quick so thatās why I said that line. And also because I think itās such a ādifferentā kind of VMP exclusive that I think itās one not to miss if you do want to get it!
But omg, it does look like Iām trying to make you buy the exclusive lol
Of course it does. You literally told every one to buy the exclusives in both posts.
I'm half-joking, but... look...
When you're discussing something like J-LO or T-Pain in a review, I think it's going to read weird for a couple of reasons.
One is that they are fucking HUGE. Most people aren't really looking for info about these artists. When you provide a review describing a lesser known artist or release, that makes more sense than describing music that I literally couldn't avoid when I tried to.
You also aren't describing the exclusive or pressing, as in "this seems to be pressed by..." or " I like this color way" or "this one came out really nice." Instead you are reviewing platinum selling albums by the tracks and then saying "buy this VMP exclusive!"
You could have easily said that, out of the two albums, you think On The 6 is a better choice. You also could have said that the T-Pain is a first time vinyl release and it feels like it might not stick around too long. There are several ways to express this stuff and even hype/suggest them while coming across as genuine, as you've done so often in the past, but these recent posts read poorly in my opinion.
And this may be a chicken or the egg scenario. Does it just come across like this, because we know you're being compensated for doing this? Even if you didn't initially post positive things expecting compensation, that's what happened and the terms expressed in the email was that they wanted to keep you on to keep cheerleading for them. Do you feel any subconscious responsibility to do so?
I don't know. What I do know is saying "Get it before you regret it!!!" and "buy this exclusive!!" Doesn't read as very organic statements, even if they are. To me at least. It feels like an ad. That being said, I won't crack jokes on them anymore. I know you are an enthusiastic guy. I was joking, but I'm not totally joking when I responded like that.
