Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

New store drop:

not gonna lie this looks pretty amazing. But $39 is pretty steep. Hopefully it makes its way to swaps.
Absolutely nobody buy this. Pretty please?

It would be cool if VMP got their 'ish' together and be able to be able to adjust your box. Such as, maybe you bought an exclusive early on, but don't want it anymore, or want to add an exclusive and change that yourself instead of going through CS.

Awesome. I want, but Impulse presses tend to suck recently and I've never heard of that pressing plant. A quick look on discogs shows them out of Texas and have very few albums pressed there over the past few years. My guess is this might be the replacement for the now shuttered Rainbo. Color me very sceptical.

I think all backwoodz releases are HDP. I have several other ones. I don't think I've ever had a serious problem with one fwiw. Have to double check for minor warps.

They seem to do a bunch of Fat Possum releases which generally are not great. More to the point, where's the incredibly steep $39 going here? The jacket type just says "gatefold", so probably basic cheap stock. Low level pressing plant, no extras, and almost 45% more expensive than the standard press. Why. I see no reason for this.

The signed version on Shabaka’s site is $50. Crazy that a generic 2LP is $39 on VMP’s site.

But orange Mather...... its orange!!

I’d ask again, maybe a different rep will take care of you.
That’s crazy because I don’t think Isley has so far been considered “sold out” once. It’s always been in the store since it was the ROTM.

They did the same with a later order. Then I cancelled for good. To be honest the customer service is either excellent, really outstanding or just terrible terrible terrible.

Also gunna add the weight is listed as standard so that means thin vinyl and there's no ship date but it's listed as a pre order. I have almost everything Shabaka has done on vinyl so although I want this and I can get it for free with credits, I'm drawing a line with this kind of predatory pricing and bullshit complete lack of ship date thing they seem to be doing now, I'll find it elsewhere.

yeah I had to rely on Bull Moose’s listing to tell me it isn’t gonna be released until mid-March.

It might be worth it as a $23 swaption but no way am I paying full price for that.

I don't know what they are actually like, but definitely not using the old Rainbo plant. They had a feature in Wired, apparently using the latest in pressing plant technology from Canada. (Guaranteed no warps :) )

(edit - Just like the VMP guarantee, any guarantees may be imaginary)
